Building a Knuckle Quad, but Flown X-Quad before

Hi, I have spent the past few months playing with the Hoten X quadcopter. It is super fun, but I want to build something of my own.

I think the Knuckle Quad looks wonderful.

I haven't built anything before (excluding a simple little plane), so I was wondering if someone could take a look at the parts I've picked out and make sure that they'll all work together, or if something should change. I might even be missing something.

Also, I'm trying to use the Devo 7 transmitter that came with my other quadcopter... so I picked out the receiver that's supposed to be compatible. I'm not sure if it works with the other stuff.
Here is the list:

KK 2.1 Flight Control Board

Knuckle Quad kit

Battery

ESC

Receiver

Motors

Props

I'm unsure about the motors and props. The motors recommended on the Knuckle Quad store page are out of stock.

Thank you for reading through this. I appreciate it very much.

P.S.

I hear the KK2 boards have a history of backorder. Should I snap one up as quickly as possible from HobbyKing? I am scared that the stock will suddenly go to 0.

Hi meowmixdelivers,

Welcome to the forums. Regarding the KK2.1 stock situation. I think it would be a good idea to grab a KK2.1 as soon as you are able. The KK2.0 has been scarce for quite a while, but who know when they actually stopped manufacturing them knowing the 2.1 was on the horizon. But until we've had months upon months of them never being out of stock, it's better not to risk it.

As for your transmitter receiver combo, all you really need to get the quad into the air is 4-channels. The transmitter can be a simple airplane transmitter as all of the actual control is performed by the flight controller board. If you have indeed found a receiver that is compatible with your Devo 7, you should be in good shape.

I noticed that you provided links from two different warehouses. If you can get all the electronics in one order from a single warehouse, it will generally cost you less in shipping costs. At least it does here in the US. Your profile doesn't mention you location.

Good luck with the build.

Thank you for the quick response!
It looks like the KK2.1 is currently not available in the US warehouse (I am on east coast US), so I'll try to get everything from the international warehouse. I appreciate the HobbyKing tip. Ordering from different warehouses may be why my last order came in two boxes, a week or so apart.
