But power is working for now while I am learning so is it a bad idea?
My answer will not change. Too many people forget, don't know, or ignore the fact that most FPV gear is not FCC certified and operates on the ISM bands. These are "shared" use frequency bands that are used by wifi, bluetooth, and a number of other "low power" point to point radio based protocols. You must accept the interference but must not intentionally impede the use of these bands. Listen first, talk if quiet, Don't crank up the power to "talk over" that which interferes with you, etc. Simple common courtesy radio useage.

If I was at a field I would agree, but I fly way out in the country so no one is going to be disturbed. And it works for now :)

Bzzt. wrong answer.

you have repeatedly said you cant go over 50 feet without issues. There is obviously something wrong with your gear. I have easily gone over 1/2 mile on 25mw, even through trees.

figure out the real problem

use the least amount of power necissary

Actually I think I just wasn't point my head with the patch antenna right, because the other day I accidentally went out of range of my TX I went so far!
