No,
you do have to stay with flysky.
I have a friend who uses these in combat planes, and doesn't have any range issues

Ok I'm just thinking about doing some micro stuff for inside flight and was looking at the alula and it says a micro receiver.

For a some what micro FlySky rx, you can remove the case. That drops the weight from 9 grams to 6. The cool part, you can do this with foam board-



Also, the flySky will bind to WL Toys and Syma micro receivers. I haven't actually used one in a plane... yet. It's on my to do list.

I have the alula and have a Flysky ct-6b. I took the case off, heatshrunk it and ground the servo connectors shorter so the wires could bend sooner.
