Carbon cub problem

Used to fly RC planes back in the 80s. Now I’m back in the sport and I bought a carbon cub from E flight.
Very good training plane.
Set up my dual rates so I can do some maneuvers with it, but I am experiencing a problem with the elevator when I switched to high rates. It changes to down elevator and can’t figure out why.
Anyone have this problem and can someone explain how to correct it. When I checked the transmitter, nothing seems to move switching from rates. I’m stumped on this one. Can someone explained to me how to correct this.

Could the rate switch somehow be controlling a separate toggle that could affect it? Like some other channel? Also could be something to do with the mixes possibly

Like maybe the rate switch Is also set to toggle flaps and there are no flaps, but when flaps are down, the elevator is set to deflect downward to counteract some of the extra lift so you're ending up with just the downward deflection?

I‘m not familiar with Spectrum radios, which you probably have, but my guess is that you set the rates to a positive number on one of your rates, and a negative on the other. That would cause it to go backwards.

That doesn't sound like a bad idea to me. Before you do though, what exactly happens when you toggle your rate switch? When it's just sitting not in flight, does anything change?
Yes, but only on the high rates. The low and mid rates don’t affect it.

Yes, but only on the high rates. The low and mid rates don’t affect it.
What exactly happens? When all you do is toggle to high rates, no other inputs, does anything move? Or is it that when you switch to high rates the direction the surface travels reverses?

When I hit the high rate, the elevator goes to the down position. The cub then nose dives until I give it up elevator.
When I checked the radio to see if the inputs move when I toggle to high rates on the radio, nothing moves. But the plane elevator goes to the down position.

I'm absolutely no expert, but the only thing I can think of is the flaps/elevator mix I mentioned earlier where the switch you're using is somehow also set to toggle flaps down. I don't see how this would have happened, but all I can recommend is trying a new switch or just not flying in high rates until someone with much more experience and knowledge than me comes along and properly diagnoses your problem. Let me know if another switch works!

If the elevator goes down without any stick input, then it must be a mix like Raxaphone mentioned. Did you copy the model from a previous model on the transmitter?

Please post a video and include with transmitter you’re using.
