Now only if they'd give us free parts to come up with good ideas for them (instead of cheesy plastic badges) . . .

Naw, they've had them for a little while. I stumbled across them a while back when looking for brake systems for planes when I watched an RC jet stop on a dime on youtube.
They won't care if we have crazy ideas, as long as we have marketable ideas. That they can steal and sell as their own.

Have a few bush pilots in the family and have always been fascinated by what they can make a plane do (Though I have never seen it in real life, only stories)
Very cool to see what ya'all have come up with. I'm a complete noob when it comes to flying, have only 3 flights behind me and 0 successful landings so there is no way I'm entering but I really am enjoying reading it all.

HK totally used the open source community work on the Turnigy 9X and applied it to the 9XR. Case and point. Also let's not forget a tiny control board developed by a certain "Kaptein" that HK now holds the rights to and this gives them a Bill Gates type of world domination over simple multirotors.
