I started this plane about a month ago. This is another in a series of 36 inch wingspan airplanes that I can use one of my many 2212 motors in. I got stuck on the landing gear, mainly because I made the battery hatch fairly large. I would go out and maiden it, but it’s raining. This isn’t surprising for South Central Alaska in August. Hopefully tomorrow they’ll be a break in the weather, and I can see whether it flies.

Really nice! Will you be uploading plans?

I have plans for the wings, tail, base fuselage, and parts of the cowling. Still have to figure out a better power pod/firewall motor mount setup.

After cleaning up the plans I’ll post what I have, you folks can figure out better solutions than I’ve come up with.

The maiden went pretty well. A bit squirrelly at first but I got it trimmed out and it flew nicely. I'm not sure that it's a beginners plane, flying wise. The rudder has tremendous authority! I kind of think it needs to be reduced to the scale size (I enlarged it because I thought it wasn't big enough.) I also put a 3 degree angle of incident into the design. I wonder whether it should just be zero. Things to think about.

I was running a 3S 1600maH battery with a 1400kV motor and 8x6 prop. I'm going to change out the motor for a 1000kV with a 10x4.5 slow flight prop and see how that flies. I'm thinking the bigger prop will put more thrust out and around the big cowling.

I'd have video, but my camera girl had other plans. Maybe I can get her to come out for the remaided. :p

Swapped out the motor and propeller and gave it a go this evening before the rain sets in. Now it has a much more scale flight. Still a little pitchy. That could also be because I’m right on the edge of tail heavy. If it is not raining later this week, I’ll give it a try with a 9x6 propeller.
