DC3/C47 2 meters / 6,5 foot twin electric plane

Hi guys!
Today i glued the profiles to the wing.

WP_20180324_17_40_45_Pro.jpg

And as you can see they were as devious as s**t!
Anyways i decided to change this!

WP_20180324_18_19_43_Pro.jpg

Ahhhhh, way better!

Next i cut of the round wingtip.

WP_20180323_17_37_30_Pro.jpg

After that i flattened the wingtip so i can glue on a better one later.

WP_20180324_18_05_36_Pro.jpg

By the way i still don´t know how i can get this little camera to work!

Every help is welcome!

See you!

You will probably have a hard time to make that work, those cheap toy cameras often work on wifi.
You should probably get proper hobby stuff for that.

Probably it´s better to buy better stuff, thanks!

But why should it work with WIFI?
It isn´t a FPV cam.
Wouldn´t it be cheaper for the company which builds this to control the cam with a PWM or an on/off signal?

no because wifi doesnt need to have an fcc id. our fpv stuff needs a fcc id or you need a ham license and thats difficult for companies to get.

Hi guys!
Today i`ve made a little progress with the wings!

I covered the leadingedge with 3mm Depron.

WP_20180325_18_17_51_Pro.jpg

WP_20180325_18_17_56_Pro.jpg

I used a heatgun to make the Depron bendable.

The perfect temperature to bend Depron without melding it is 100 degrees celsius or 212 degrees fahrenheit.

Next i glued on the covering for the leadingedge.

WP_20180325_18_40_31_Pro.jpg

And the profile is way better now!

WP_20180323_17_11_29_Pro.jpg

WP_20180325_18_18_34_Pro.jpg

It don´t just looks better now, it should also create more lift!
The next step will be to attach the lights and to run all the cables to the middle of the fuselage.

By the way:
Yesterday i maidened my Graupner E-Trainer!
It´s a great plane!
Unfortunately the plane isn´t fabricated anymore :( but if you´ll ever have the chance to get one i´d highly recommend it!

See you!

Then it would probably be a good idea to invest in a runcam HD, at least those are easy to use and probably have a better quality than your thing.

I like your workspace there. It looks like a sewing table for large work like sails and stuff.

The whole construct is made from three tables with wooden plates screwed to them.
It was planed to be a base for a rc railway but then i lost the interest into the railway and i disassembled everything and stored it in some boxes (I´m sellig the rails and trains right now!).
After about a month i came into rc planes and i decided to use this HUGE surface as my workspace.
But as always if you get more space it´s full of stuff after a month or two :p .

Daniel Kezar:
ohohoh i gotcha. idk what your question is then.

@Daniel: sorry, i´m not the best one in English.
Unfortunately some sentences are totaly nonsence, i`m working on it.
The question was already answered by Fluburtur

This wasn´t really meant as a question, sorry.
I should really work on making clear sentences :(

hey, your sentences make more sense and are more complete than the ones created by 90, maybe 95% of american teens. you are doing good!! haha!

By the way i´m petty much done with the first wing.

First i layed in the cables for the lights.

WP_20180327_20_48_52_Pro.jpg

WP_20180327_23_01_05_Pro.jpg

Then i closed the leadingedge and cut in the hole for the landinglight.

WP_20180328_12_24_28_Pro.jpg

WP_20180328_10_48_22_Pro.jpg

WP_20180328_11_37_59_Pro.jpg

I had to angle the light so the light goes straight.

WP_20180328_11_38_05_Pro.jpg

WP_20180328_11_42_30_Pro.jpg

I filled up the holes on the sides with posterboard and painted it silver like the lightunit.

WP_20180328_11_50_44_Pro.jpg

WP_20180328_11_58_02_Pro.jpg

I glassed the light with some transparent packaging.
To protect the packaging from scraches i covered it with tape.

WP_20180328_11_58_27_Pro.jpg

WP_20180328_11_58_57_Pro.jpg

Unfortunately i didn´t noticed that the surface was already ful of scraches
But to be honest i have to say that it looks better now!

After i had all the electronics for the wing done i had to decide which plug i want to use to connect the lights to the fuselage.
First i decided to use a normal headphone plug.

WP_20180327_20_48_36_Pro.jpg

But they are verry heavy!
So i got the idea to use servo plugs.

WP_20180328_12_44_22_Pro.jpg

It´s way lighter now!

That´s how everything looks until now.

WP_20180328_12_23_30_Pro.jpg

WP_20180328_12_23_45_Pro.jpg

WP_20180328_12_23_59_Pro.jpg

Next i glued a block of Depron to the wingtip and made a hole for the positionlights into the block.

WP_20180328_13_14_10_Pro.jpg

WP_20180328_13_14_21_Pro.jpg

I also started with the secound wing.
First i placed the servos and the cables.

WP_20180327_23_00_42_Pro.jpg

WP_20180327_23_00_45_Pro.jpg

WP_20180327_23_00_48_Pro.jpg

WP_20180327_23_00_54_Pro.jpg

WP_20180327_23_02_51_Pro.jpg

I then bend over the covering but i don´t think that you need pictures for that.;)

The next speps will be to finnish both wings, fix the inner wings to the fuselage and the enginenacells (which also have to be build) to the inner wings.

Have a nice day!

Hi guys!
In the past few days i´ve made some progress with my Dc3.
I finished the first wing and started with the secound one.

WP_20180328_19_09_00_Pro.jpg

WP_20180328_19_09_24_Pro.jpg

WP_20180405_10_51_49_Pro.jpg

WP_20180405_10_53_46_Pro.jpg

I also sanded the middle section of the fuselage to it´s final shape and taped the inner wings to it.

WP_20180405_21_38_56_Pro.jpg

WP_20180409_14_56_31_Pro.jpg

WP_20180409_15_51_10_Pro.jpg

And i sucsessfuly hotwired out the gap for the flaps :applause:.

WP_20180409_14_57_09_Pro.jpg

Finaly i finished the leadingedge of the secound wing and solderd on the plugs for the servos and lights.

WP_20180405_13_53_42_Pro.jpg

WP_20180405_13_53_48_Pro.jpg

I really would like to post more frequently but sometimes i just have one picture ore something like this
and then it isn´t worth is to be posted.

By the way i´ve got a question:
I want to cover the plane in order to create a better surface (without gaps and scraches).
How would you cover this plane?
Fibreglas is to heavy for me and the normal shrinking foil makes a lot of waves and the temperatures are to high for the Styrodur.

Stay safe!

You could try the method Peter used for his big cargo plane, I think it involved using white glue and coffee filters. I tried once but I put way too much water in the glue so it didn't work but it would probably work quite well and it will give it a hard surface.

Thanks, i´ll try it out!
I already tested Toiletpaper with 40 min. epoxy but the epoxy sucks into the Styrodur and the toiletpaper just falls off :(.
