Decreasing turn radius in Level Assist Mode

I've been using the Aura5 Lite board to fly my EDF Retro Rocket. I've found that I need to leave it in Level Assist Mode most of the flight. Otherwise I have some ugly stalls. The problem I have is that in Level Assist my turning radius is too big and I have trouble keeping the plane over the field and lining up to land.
I'm using the setup file from the store page. What settings do I need to change to allow for a tighter radius turn?

I think if you turn down your rates that would help.

Need to change the max roll angle to make a tighter turn. I'll see if I can find the file on the store to load in a spare Aura board to look for the exact settings.

Max roll angle for the FT file is 65 degrees. That's not too shabby. See Angle Cmd at the bottom of the Roll box.

From the Flex Innovations documentation:

Level Assist
This feature helps bring the aircraft back to a level position when the pilot is not actively giving input. This may also sometimes be called "6-Axis".

Angle CommandSometimes displayed as "Angle Cmd", this value controls the maximum allowed bank or pitch angles, as well as the desired 'center' angle with the stick in its center position. The default for roll is set to -65º, 0 and +65º, meaning a maximum bank of 65º left and right, with a center position of 0º bank when the stick is centered.

While you are rolled in a turn, are you pulling back on the elevator?

That's a good question. At our field we have an asphalt runway. Directly across from it is a line of trees at around 200 yards. If I fly over the top of the trees and turn with full left and up stick deflection it ends up maybe 20 to 50 yards behind me where there are also trees to avoid. When I fly my retro rocket prop version I can turn much tighter because it has directional thrust on the rudder.

Hmm, maybe add thrust vectoring to your edf version?

Without seeing a video, you are learning what the difference in flying an EDF compared to a prop.

Your ugly stalls is when an EDF takes the turn too tight and the power is to low, it bleeds quickly and will go into a stall. When flying an EDF, you have to anticipate what's coming up and especially for landing, you need to fly it down and start your flare close to the ground. Practice slowing/flare a couple of crash heights so you can recover. Practice doing it with left hand turns to final as well as right hand approaches. You will find right will be different than lefts. Did you know that?

If you are used to flying with props on the front, You may also be finding that there is no airflow over the control surfaces from the props, so you need to keep your speed up to not stall and have control. If you are stalling, especially bad stalls, you are flying too slow.

Have you tried bumping up roll to 75 or 80 to see if it helps?

Ok, REVERSE ROTATION EDF!!😂
On duals, you use cw/ccw EDFs. Allows you to do knife edges real easy.
Yes. That why when someone designs a plane I always want to see right turns(especially right hand approaches for landing) to rate it.
A video is worth a thousand words.

By the way, an excellent trainer and it does acrobatics and it's slow. 6 pieces and the EDF is protected. Can land and takeoff without gear if built light. Teaches flaring to slow down jets for landing.

I've always been confused on cw vs ccw, because it all depends on which direction you look at the plane.

Can you get reverse edfs?
