Once you are done with that you’ll want to bevel this piece on the black marks in the picture bellow. Where you have the line with two lines running through it on the top of the piece you should just slightly bevel until it lines up nice on the top part of the fuselage that you already built like a front window of the plane.

I went out to build the next step and want you to disregard this part. I’ll post the correct way later tonight.

Ok so its not just that I have yet to go to bed from yesterday that I thought I missed something even after reading it 3x hehe

So until we get back to prepping the wind shield piece. Here are the next steps of the build.

You’ll want to glue these two forms together focusing the glue where I marked in yellow (be gentle between tabs), and make sure to line up the center ticks of the forms.
C38E852D-9F06-4297-AA02-56AC8736B1A2.jpeg

Next well want to glue that to the main fuselage piece that we already built. Making sure that the 4 tabs are facing forward. Put glue on the former it will make less mess, marked in yellow is where you want to put the glue.

Moving on…. Put a drop of glue between the former and the fuselage side plate and hold for a good 2mins, then repeat on the other side.

Next we take this piece.
C7B2078F-540D-45C9-A781-6EE3CFC80370.jpeg

You see that this piece has one side straight well that side needs to be forward on the next step when looking at the front of the plane. You then want to apply glue here and glue the piece as so, securing it with tape for the next step.

A0394B2E-6781-4337-B30C-4DF0D1C65EE2.jpeg

Next you’ll want to apply glue on the former til the center mark and pull the piece down holding it until it’s dry and doesn’t spring up.

Now apply glue to the rest of the former and the L shape on the other side and hold into place securing it with tape until it’s completely dry.

Soon I’ll go recut the wind shield and post that part of the build. If I’ll have energy after a great Friday dinner I’ll go cut out some more pieces.

Here is the fix on the wind shield part I messed up earlier. You don’t need to bevel to folds just run over them with the end of the BBQ skewer. Then bevel only the top and bottom of the piece so that it look like this.

C2EFF084-DF93-4B0A-A642-EB9A5EE2EF6A.jpeg

Now it’s time to glue into place that’s a little more complicated to explain written so here’s a short video about it.

Once that’s dry you’ll want to add some glue here underneath the wind shield and hold it down.

When done it’ll look like this

More tomorrow cause I am exhausted….

Right after installing the wind shield we should have installed the rectangular piece with the 4 tabs on it. So let’s quickly address that before moving on.

Cut out the piece, clear out the cavities and starting doing an A fold on it, starting with the sides.
B8E8EBE7-4DB5-4C8D-B136-64291DB48825.jpeg

Now apply glue on the top, close it up and turn it over so that it holds good. Don’t forget to slide back and forth so it won’t stick to the table. Once the glue is dry test fit it, it connects at the front of the plane. If happy apply glue between the tabs and push back into the tabs.

Now let’s prep the next few pieces.
You’ll want to get these pieces.
08EC559F-C0AF-4B38-BD27-B6423C819227.jpeg

And prep them like this.
C940C40B-67D7-43F0-A343-988E9A751984.jpeg

Clearing out the cavities and pealing of the paper from the same side the cavities are on. Then pop out the tabs on the back of the main fuselage piece we have built.

Soon I’ll go continue the next part of the build.

This is one of my favorite planes. It was the only plane to win both the Bendix and the Thompson trophy. And it did this being a big fat barrel with a high wing. What an influence this has had on me for R/C building. No matter what I build , go for the biggest motor U can put on it and it will fly. I get busy, so I only have time to glance through some threads. I finally had the chance to to do some reading on this one want to give U a (y) on what U have thus far.

@cyclone3350 you should check out the video of it flying on my other threads about it.
@kilroy07 I have confession to make I am not happy with the way my build has come out so far :(, I can and should do better, so I am reprinting the parts I've built and rebuilding. The same steps as used before will be applied but I'll just do it better, maybe even get a video some how.

I actually have the next step built and photographed but I rather start fresh including the next step. Please bare with me another day.

Hey man, DON'T do it on my account!

What you've done so far is fantastic!

In fact... I think I'm all caught up!!

@kilroy07 thank you. Thank you for building with me.

Your both right, I’ll rebuild after your feedbacks and will post the next step later today (after work).

@kilroy07 your build looks amazing so far. It’s shocking to see how the laser cut pieces look different then the hand cut ones :).

I don't seem to have the two thin strips (parts 3 & 5 maybe?) you show in post #25.

I was curious about the "second spar" shown on the plans, is that maybe the two pieces.
(I've PM'ed you with the DXF files so you can see what I mean.)

Ok so I checked and it's even better that you dont have those pieces. I'll soon post the next step, without those pieces.

Okay so sorry for the delay, the kids requires attention. So now that they are asleep and I finished tearing up the mistakes I’ve done here is the next step.

First prep the pieces I posted on post #25, without the two this pieces which are not really needed. Then get 4 popsicles sticks cut about 1.5 inches long and two Velcro straps.

Glue the 4 popsicles sticks on the bottom part of the plane where you have the slots, make sure to glue in between the slots.

C1D6DC7D-A4FD-49D8-82F2-DB06BF2B7FBA.jpeg

Now for the inside pass one of the velcro straps in the thin slots close the the nose of the plane, turn over and slide back in through the other thin slot paralel to the one you used.
3E1F729A-A153-4F40-BE3D-116129063E65.jpeg

Next take this former and glue in a c fold manner, and let it cool.
26063698-44FB-469A-B3A2-9092F78934EA.jpeg

Now we’ll start putting in the formers starting with the one closest to the nose and work out way back. You don’t have to glue them down to much cause they’ll be pushed down by the bottoms covers so a drop or two of glue on the bottom is enough. Before applying glue make sure to test fit. Do the first two formers and then slide in the second velcro strap in the same manner as before. After inserting the second velcro keep inserting the formers until the end.

A1A346F0-14FD-44CD-9061-EFC45AC4B1A3.jpeg

Once your done with that you’ll want to get the covers shaped. Most of the covers are easy to shape the only one which is a bit difficult is the tail cover, so I’ll start by explaining that. To shape it you’ll want to place the center of the piece on the edge of the table with the side without the paper facing the table. Now you want to put one hand on the top of the piece gently applying pressure on the piece while sliding the wide part down. You’ll have to repeat this a couple of times on both sides until it has the right looking shape.

For the rest of the parts just put the edge of the part one the edge of the table the side without the paper facing the table and slide the piece downward while applying pressure from the top. Repeat 2-3 times and then shape of the rest with your hand. The pieces should look like this.
57B6D91D-C7B8-480A-8921-4A534115A9B8.jpeg

Take a piece of painters tape and tape it over one of the sides of the tail cover. Now take that and line it up with the center of the double former and the edge of the tail section. Once happy tape down to the fuselage. Open up so that you can see the cavaity, then prep tape on the other side of the cover but this time place it on the fuselage not the cover and bend away.

CF9F1E46-5987-4162-B3BF-D1ED4CAB55D4.jpeg

Now apply glue to both sides of the cover and both formers and pull over and down so that the sides of the former both touch the edges of the bottom part of the fuselage and tape over to hold in place.
B2EF8EE4-9FD3-4003-9591-43E155E9366E.jpeg

The next cover needs to line up the the previous one but you might need to do some trimming to the previous cover so test before. Do any trimming that you need and glue as before.
13A7993C-7792-4E0A-81FA-F25A02B6FF8A.jpeg

The next cover goes over the two inner formers of the two spaces formers, and is glued in the same manner as before.

FD37F43B-B287-42EB-8B40-A1C348462577.jpeg

Now for the last cover the one closest to the nose. You’ll want to line it up with the former closest to the first velcro. Notice that the circled former at the front of the plane is a few mm outward from the cover make sure to apply some pressure on it pushing is back to line up. This should give l the plane the right thrust angle.
240208FB-8630-4393-B28C-F3FB0ECC482B.jpeg

When your done and remove the tape you should have this.
B815586D-DBF6-4110-8467-31837CB0D829.jpeg

Ok going to cut out the pieces for the next step.

@kilroy07 I never got along with flaps on any one of the models I’ve ever built. If you want the flaps in to let me know and I’ll do my build with the flaps too. What say you?
Totall up to you man.
The cut files I have do include flaps, so I'm kinda committed to flaps on mine, but it's pretty straightforward how you plan to have them set up there... so no need to do them on your side. (on a side note, you've got pretty hefty flaps there, so maybe you just have a tab bit too much angle for flaps, I'm thinking maybe 5 degrees for the first setting and no more than 15 for the second?... thoughts?)

Wow I honestly don’t know. And I’ll do the flaps on mine too so we are on the same page.
I just finished working and was about to go do another step in the build.
