I'm curious to see what, if anything, you guys scored over Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend. Thanks to BicycleMonkey's post about Maxford USA, I bought an ARF Stearman, 50" wingspan for 50% its regular price (Thanks again, BM!).

So, did you guys find anything for a great price? Find anything for an ok price? Completely underwhelmed with the deals? Disappointed in HK's "Biggest Sale Ever?" What's up?

I got a Super Sky Surfer for$129 shipped from Banana Hobby. Think of it as the worlds largest Bixler. 95" wingspan.

robshonk-I'd like to hear your evaluation of the Super Surfer. It should make one heck of an fpv platform.

Those were my thoughts too.

The consensus is that it does fine with stock motor, but use a 4s battery, larger prop and ESC, and make sure your BEC can handle 6 17g servos. Also, replace the stock 48"solid fiberglass wing rod with a hollow CS from here: http://www.goodwinds.com/merch/list.shtml?cat=carbon.pultrudedcarbon

Lot's of folks skeptical of Banana Hobby, but there seem to be very few problems.

There's a 45 min build video on the BH website. Not exactly J & J, but you get the idea. http://www.bananahobby.com/super-sky-surfer-rc-sailplane-glider-arf-80099-prd1.html#video

Due to family commitments, it will prolly be 4 weeks before it maidens.

Here are a few exhaustive threads that will answer any question you might have:

I just picked up my DX6i and mCX2 not long before the sales so nothing for me.

A great place to get a mcx2, or any Blade heli, or anything from Horizon, is the Hobb-E-Mart Ebay store. They seem to be the scratch-and-dent outlet for Horizon. Many of the helis that they list as having defects are fine. They're just returns that they can't sell for new.

Picked up 5 mcx2s for my kids for less than $100 shipped, with 3 transmitters, no boxes. One had a slightly warped motor mount from overheating, the rest were fine. Use a match to heat the mount, and mold it back into place.

Select a category, click on time ending soonest, and place a bid. Many of the auctions are just for a couple of days, so check often.

I was disappointed to miss that one.
And glad you were able to pick one up.
They're back on sale again....I picked one up also but couldn't help myself and added another RX, Plush 30 and a USB-ASP programer.
Save $10.00 and spend $50.00

I know. Happy day. I got one last night and its already posted. Not bad eh.

I padded the weight out with a tail servo mount that I needed anyway for my new HK450 pro and some bearings for same. $5 or so extra, less than $30 posted. Noice.
