Different motor mounts

I'm trying to figure out how to mount different motors with the top of the motor rotation or the bottom half rotating. I noticed on the FT Cruiser that the motor is mounted from behind with a motor that has a rotating bottom half. Just wondering how that would work if anyone knows. I could use a little explanation on how motor mounts differ as well.
