DJI Spark

Has anyone heard about the DJI Spark? What do you think of it? Is the price saving for it worth it over the DJI Mavic?

I have friends asking me about it and I do not think it is as portable as the Mavic due to the fact it does not have folding arms. As such, I would think you would be more likely to take the Mavic with you over the Spark and what good is the Spark if you do not take it with you?

I recently bought a spark (literally yesterday) and have put 3 packs through it. I absolutely LOVE it. It does not fold up as small as a Mavic, but it does come with a nice case that hold 2 batteries and spare props very nicely. You don't need the transmitter, but it does do a few extra things with it as well as make stuff easier. You can either purchase a transmitter separate or buy the Fly More Package. The Fly More Pack is a way better deal then buying everything separate. Like just the optional transmitter purchased separate adds up to the cost of the Fly More Pack. I also believe that the camera isn't quite the same quality as the Mavic. I purchased this as an entry level drone, but I do have plans to use this as an aerial photography platform for my sisters wedding in September.
Hope this helped.

the dji spark (http://click.dji.com/ACp5n_MqZ5ecpyKjN0VR?pm=link&as=0001) is quite a magnificient quad.It has 2 axis gimbal stabalization and the third axis is stabalized electronically. It is good to take on trips and get some good videos. However i would suggest the mavic as it is more reliable, easy to learn, and better stabalization and video quality.(http://click.dji.com/AOVs3iLZzDdjVIlQnOWu?pm=link&as=0001) i do suggest saving up for a mavic as you will have a better experince. My friend has in fact had a flyaway with the spark but overall it is good. But nothing can beat the mavic!

Gravity is heartless...
There is NO way I could buy a thousand dollar quad, but the spark seems to have all the necessary features that the Mavic did, aside from a few, at a much more affordable price. As far as folding, the Spark looks like you could (carefully) drop it in a back pack and it would be fine, so if I got one I wouldn't be complaining.

thats is tue however its just that the quality on the spark is bit less as it is only 2 axis and the third is electronic. However i do completely agree with u

Wake up! Time to fly!
From reviews I have seen and read I would wait for Version 2 of the spark. Seems the hand control thing flat out sucks and it either does not work, flys away and ignores your, or attacks you. Then there is that whole not the greatest video thing. Then worst of all is that whole we own anything you may film with this clause hidden in the EULA. Anyone care to have to buy back family vacation photos?

Then you look at Steeles video on his Mavic pro with every time he takes it out to quick capture something it goes thru a 30 minute update process.

For the cost of them and all the hassles that go with them I would be more inclined to build my own.

This kind of stuff is EXACTLY why I avoid DJI like the plague. Love the features. Hate the politics, proprietariality, and inflated prices.

I have a mavic. I can't say I love it, but it does the job it was meant to do quite well...I guess I don't have as much need for an AP platform as I thought...

Here is the deal...It is good for what it is supposed to be. It is dead on stable, It stays where you put it, and it has a decent camera.

I guess for me after flying 250s for a few years flying an AP platform is about as fun as driving the van. It gets you where you want to go but it isn't much of a thrill getting there.

Hope this helps.

Spark vs. Mavic really depends on what you want to do. The Sparks easy indoor flying the Mavic's battery life and super longs range (2+ miles) Also, the Spark isn't really *that* much less expensive than the Mavic, ie $500 vs $1000. It's more like $650 vs $1000 when you add in the controller to the Spark, which is included with the Mavic.
