Does anyone have the UMX Pitts?

I really want an acro-ish micro I can learn on (beyond my super cub s and delta ray). This looks like a great little plane, thoughts?

Looks great, although it will be a while until I am ready for something that fast. If you end up getting it let us all know how it works out for you.

I have the Beast3d umx with as3x. I would image that they fly about the same, the beast might be a bit more aggressive, but I believe all the electronics are the same (motor, battery, servos). Is it a plane to learn on...meh..more of an intermediate plane. It does stay nice and stable in wind, but it is still a quick little bird that reacts quickly. On the beast, you can put the control rods in different hole of the control horn to make it more or less aggrresive, I would assume the same is true of the pitts. I was up in the air over to pitts or the beast when I bought the beast, bought the beast because I wanted the 3d capabilities (even though my thumbs are not yet 3d capable)

So long story short, if you opt for the pitts, dial in some expo and dual rates, soften up the controls. The little bird will likely like to fly as fast as the beast.

Thanks for the advice. I looked at the beast too but it does seem a bit more aggressive. I really need to pull the trigger and get it.

I have one. I like it a lot. It's my primary micro when i'm at the club field, where they have a runway.
My ratings:
Glide: horrible (its a biplane..)
Speed: zippy, but not fast
Control: Very good
Roll speed: Very good
Rudder / elevator control: Good.
Battery life: 4-5 minutes
Landing characteristics: Tends to turn and dip wingtip, somewhat unstable, somewhat bouncy.
Durability: I haven't crashed it too much, but it seems "dense". That could mean that it is heavier and wrecks worse, or is stronger. I don't know.
It is probably the "twitchiest" Micro plane along with the Beast and AS3Xtra, but if you can fly a sport cub and perform loops and rolls and knife edges, you can fly this with some practice. :)

A buddy of mine of has it. Its a sweet little plane. He is a nervous guy, mostly flying circles in one direction. Sometimes he gets a little crazy and flies circles in the opposite direction. He is very comfortable with it. Me… I like to make him nervous when he lets me fly it. ;)

What do you mean by "horrible ground handling" Akimbo?

Montiey, does that mean it needs to be landed with some throttle?

Pitts' have a reputation with full scale pilots for being gawdaweful on the ground. The short moment between the main gear and the tail wheel make it unstable on the ground, and the stubby mains don't really help at all.

The worst Pitts' for the taxi and roll out are the S1 and the special (S1S). They have a very nasty habit of doing this...

...Not exactly a forgiving platform on the ground.

Thanks for the illustration. I ordered mine yesterday and it will be here mid week, so I will have a few next weekend. Doing knife edges with my Delta Ray is kind of...... hmmm what is the word. The sport cub s is good but can't do tricks in wind very well.

The Pitts is beautiful but the battery is an odd helicopter batter that doesn't fit the standard 2S plug. My hobby shop didn't have a connector in stock so I had to wait half a week for one to come in. I plugged my first battery into my delta ray car charger and it instantly got hot and puffed up. The second one I plugged into my profit and it charged fine.
