Saw an article on the FT site where mudman59 showed his ‘Cuda Wannabee. Looked like a cool plane and relatively easy to build. Wanted to try a more symmetrical wing which I had never done before. Weather is preventing flying so plenty of time to build.

Specs:
30” wingspan
2 x 9g servos for elevons
40A esc w/ Turnigy d2826/6 2200kv motor w/ 6x4 prop
2200 3s

Built by TLAR. Working on plans in Inkscape as I go.

Also did a "mini" version.

Specs:
22" wingspan
2 x 5g servos
2204/2205 motor, 6x3 or 4 prop
3S 800mah

Build complete and new pics added to the first post. Again, mother nature is killing me - getting 6-12" of white stuff today into tomorrow so no clue when this will get a maiden. Will post beta plans later this week when wrapped up.

Not flying due to weather so built a Baby ‘Cuda!

May be a little too small but we will see. 2205 motor with 6x4 and 800 3s.

Yeah, the little one has just under a 22” span. My issue is all I have available is a 30a esc and since the wing passes through the back I have extension wires from the motor to the esc. All of it is adding weight. Will see if it has the glide slope of a brick.

Two batteries through the big Cuda today and it is fast! Minimal throws and used 40% expo and flew great. 3s 2200 up front to balance. Thinking about a neon green paint scheme and black fin.

i built the small one, i'm not seeing plans for the larger one. Every time i launched the small one it would just turn into a tornado out of my hands. i was using 2205 something like 22-2500kv. i had a 4s 1300 in the nose. seemed to balance, never could get it to fly. maybe i was just way to heavy for the design??? Isthe bigger sized ones plans around?

@miraspen - sorry to hear about your experience but you were running much heavier than mine which may have been the problem. On the mini I was using a 2205 2300kv motor but with a little 3s 850mah battery. Flew fine just a little twitchy.

Bigger one is much more stable but does like to go fast. I think I flew the bigger one with a 3s 1300 and a turnigy 2826/6 2200kv motor.
Plans at this link. Let me know how your build goes!
