I actually purchased the files for https://www.eclipson-airplanes.com/e-vtol-1 in January of 2022 but this is as far as i got by June 2022

and that's how I left it until today but after listening to episode 70 of the AviationRCnoob's podcast
https://anchor.fm/avaitionrcnoob/ep...st-Tony-Lewis-Finish-What-You-Started-e1vs58j
and learning about this challenge I decided to restart it.
https://forum.flitetest.com/index.php?threads/2023-spring-sprint-wrap-up-challenge.72822/

So this is one of several unfinished projects that I plan on restarting as part of this challenge but its a bit involved as it will require a flight controller running Arduplane with some advanced settings for a VTOL tail sitter which will be interesting.
https://ardupilot.org/plane/docs/guide-tailsitter.html?highlight=tail+sitter

Prior to Eclipson releasing this model in January of 2022 I really wanted to build a VTOL tail sitter out of foam board like the one that Josh designed for the NXP guys for their Hover Games challenge and was really hoping that he would make the plans available but I believe that it was only available through the FT Stem program as a complete kit including hardware although I can no longer find it on the Stem store.
Here is my original thread.

Most of the airframe is built so just need to see what components that I have or need to buy.

Recommended

What I have

Notes

Motors

SunnySky X2212 1200 kV

SunnySky X2212 980 Kv (CCW) or EMAX 2213 935 kv

Likely will use the EMAX as I have both CW and CCW.

Prop

1000Kv 8x7
1200kv 8x6
1500kv 7x6 or 8x5

8x4.5 CCW and a CW

Need to find or order another CW prop.

ESC

20A or 30A

Hobbywing X-Rotor 40A

From a dismantled multi-rotor build. No internal BEC.

Servo

MG90

Emax ES08MA II x 2

Only use these for new builds and not the cheap MG90s

Flight Controller

Matek 405 Wing

Pixhawk 2.4.8 or Hollybro Kakute F7

GPS

Matek M8Q-5883 or SAM-M8Q

BN-880

Battery

4S 1500-2200 mAh

3s 2200 mAh GenAce 25C

Do motors support 4S ?

Receiver

Push Rod Wire

1.2mm x 400mm

K&S #502 1.19mm 0.048"

Linkage Stoppers

Carbon Fiber Tubing

345mm length of D4x3mm

For controls, the aircraft motion either relate to the earth or aircraft.

Aircraft Reference - aileron controls roll Earth reference--- aileron controls earth yaw
- elevator controls pitch elevator controls earth pitch

ok, so I imagine its the flight controller would determine that. I am planning on using Arduplane so it will be how its setup. Although this is not strictly for their E-VTOL-1 they do reference it for setup.

Didn't make the April 30th Spring Sprint Wrap-up challenge deadline but the Speedy Bee Fixed Wing Flight controller did arrive today so that should keep me busy. May need to first test it out in a non VTOL foam board plane first.
