I am going to build the motor mount reinforcements, this is my first Edge 120%, I even thought of building the green parts with 3mm plywood. What you think, is it too much ? The Motor 3648-880kV is coming on Friday

I was also thinking of making the cowl detachable, but I don't have a concrete idea yet, also because the cowl is part of the structure that makes it strong. Let me know how you are going to do the reinforcements.

I was belly landing on grass as my detachable undercarriage was loose so took it off. First 2 flights where fine but on the third The prop (12x6) caught the ground and the motor pod was the instrument of destruction it damaged the horizontal former the pod sits on and the vertical former the pod sits up against.
It wasn't catastrophic damage but its meant I am now repairing and fitting ply to the same areas your doing now in the build. Its a weak spot in the design and needs good reinforcement. I would build a detachable cowl too, Blocker did that its a god idea better for access later.

I built mine with detachable cowl. As I crashed it heavily on the maiden was glad I did. Very easy modification to do, and really useful for motor access...

Ah if only hind sight eh its a fine thing.
Sadly when it came to my Edge build I didn't use it
