Why does setting up rates have to be so darn hard / Messy?

IT DOESN'T!!!

Flying a plane with EdgeTX and want a SIMPLE way to set up multiple rates, on a switch or even a dial that doesn't take multiple lines of setup on the inputs or mixes tab? Here is what I came up with after seeing numerous methods that make everyone's heads spin trying to figure out what the heck all those lines do, and finding it a royal nuisance to change the rates for all those lines you had to create the first go round. I am also playing with the simple screenshot functionality on the radio to make pictures better. (simple is better right?)

Step one:
Create a NEW input on the inputs tab. Just click that + at the bottom of your inputs:

Choose the switch you want to control your rates in the source field
Create a Cstm curve. The standard values are CV1to CV32-ish.
If you long press the curve name field (now showing RAT) it will take you to the curve screen

Name the curve what you want. (you only have 3 characters) (I have a RATty Rate curve)
Change the type to 3pts for a 3 position switch, then edit the Y positions for the values you want for the 3 positions
I chose 50/75/100 in this example

Return (RTN button) back to your inputs screen and select the input you want to add rates to
Here's my new input on the inputs tab

Let's add this to the Aileron input!
Click on the [SRC] button next to the Weight field

Then scroll through the inputs list till you find the one you created.

Add it to whatever other inputs you want multiple rates on and test it out!

Notice, now when you look at the inputs, you can easily tell which ones you have your rate switch assigned to them

Here I show my outputs with the sticks in the corner for my 3 rate switch positions:

Want to modify your rate positions, just edit the curve on the Model's curves tab
1787869685987.png

Want to use a 6 point switch, create a 6 point curve and select that switch for your new input. You could actually just use a 2 point curve, but some people like to do non-even changes between settings which allows you to set the exact value for each switch position.

Want infinitely variable curve adjustment? Set a two point curve with the low and high percentage you want to adjust between and use a slider/knob for the source on your input!

Want different rate profiles for different inputs but on the same switch, create separate curves and inputs but use the same switch on them.

Cheers!

Anyone want to explain to me why @LitterBug doesn't have a Mentor badge?!

@LitterBug thanks for sharing this technique! Even though I use a template, I always hated setting up multiple lines for rates. This feels like a much more straightforward method.

Details of setting up Expo using a curve are almost identical to the way it is set up for rates. The only real difference is field on your inputs is different.
Step 1: Set up an Expo Curve in the Curves tab for the model. Example is for a 3 position switch.
ExpoCurve.png

If you want to go back and modify your curves, just go to the curves tab and select the one you want to adjust.

Now create a new input called Expo using the + at the bottom of the inputs.
In this example I am using the same switch [SB] for both rates and expo.
You can use different switches or even a knob to adjust the expo.
Set the curve to [Cstm] and select the [Exp] cruve you created in the first step.
InputExpoSource.png

Now set up expo on the Inputs you want to have expo (Ail, Ele, Rud, etc.)
Go down to the Curve line on the input, select Custom, then click source till it shows an input field
InputCurveSource.png

Now select the input you created for Expo from the dropdown list.
InputExpo.png

Now the inputs will show which are set up for rates and expo

You can see in this example rates and expo are controlled by the same switch
