We were flying after school today in high winds. At some point my left elevator seceded from the tail surface. Kind of weird, because I was able to land it like a harrier with no problems.
What surprises me really that you got it down safely in a harrier.
Maybe the shape kinda increased the surface area of the elevator so you just had to steer against the natural torque and you had a mmuch bigger e-surface area which made it able for you to harrier.
It must have happened very near the end of the flight, as I was just hovering in the wind, low to the ground. It required such constant control input anyway that I guess I was compensating for it without even knowing it happened.
