End of the hobby in the USA?

It looks to be an import ban.
Customs agents do this. They send things back, before they move inside the US.
Nope, the stuff generally is sitting on the warehouse floor stateside. Used to be part of my job once, babysitting stuff awaiting customs inspection. There ARE customs employees (dept of treasury) employed in U.S.of A. owned Warehouses everywhere worldwide but whoa baby, they are expensive when you involve our customs people and their warehouses

Stuff in Russia, Ukraine and Iran has politicians shook. What's the use devoting your whole life to the accumulation of power when any peon with $500 can threaten you?

We need more drone regulation
I'm not sure that would fix the problem...They have plenty of regulations/laws on stealing cars, but it still happens! People are going to do stuff and regulations can get to a point where they just make things way to hard for the everyday hobbyist, and the people who are going to do stuff will just get it some other way anyway..
Kinda like with guns laws, they say we need more regulations because a shooting happens somewhere..The fact is, if a person can't go to a store and buy one, they will just get it on the black market (probably safer for them anyway) or something and meanwhile, all the rest of the population who are honest are left without a means to defend themselves, and their families....

IDK, flying drones isn't easy enough just anyone could pick one up and fly it..Unless we are talking about DJI drones, but those transmit RID (Remote ID) which will broad cast the location of the drone (And I'm pretty the location of the remote) to the police so they would know the instant you take off..(End of mission😂😂)
If you are using FPV drones, the tech for that has been around for at least 10 years..I think its just because Ukriane/Iran has been using these, that they finally make the head lines and they aren't really that more of a threat than 10 yrs ago👍

(I find it kinda funny, when you see some reporter or something getting all hyped up over FPV drones calling them "new technology" when they are in fact, rather old fashioned compared to other stuff nowaday!😂)

...the police so they would know the instat you take off...
The police in my town could care less where you fly or if you have RID or not. At the moment, they are far too busy with other things to pay any attention to drones. I suspect the police in other places have a similar opinion. As long as you don't do anything stupid, they will leave you alone.

I meant if you take off right next to a place like the white house👍 (Also I think only FAA officers who have the authority to fine you if you don't have RID, though if you are flying in a place you shouldn't then police can do something about it)

We've had the police out to our field and they used their radar guns to see how fast the quickies were flying. We get along great with the police.

Now, imagine what would happen if there were no theft or gun laws.

People that were going to steal would steal anyway? People that were going to shoot people would still shoot people. The law only stops a very small segment of the population from doing anything.
