Help! ESC working very weird

It didnt give me an option to pick THR, and after I disconnected the rudder servo to test the reciever, it wont give an option for RUD either.
I don't have the pocket. I have the tx16s, but once highlight the THR and edit I choose source and just move the throttle stick to automatically choose it. Maybe in the mixes too.

The mixes are good, and in the MDL -> Inputs menu, the rudder and throttle graphs that show up when I press edit both respond to their respective controls.

Scratch my head. If you haven't already, try a new model. I don't know if the pocket has it, but the tx16s has a wizard model setup. I had problems with it, so I don't use it at all. I just choose blank model.

The radios are VERY customizable. what matters the most is that the output is doing what it should. Sounds like a bad ESC.

I think this is how your inputs and mixes should look like (Ignore the E stuff that's just expo). Not sure why it doesn't show that in yours. I deleted the Thr in my mixes on my TX16S and the throttle does not work. I'm sorry. I know how frustrating this must be.

I’m not certain about the tones on that esc, but after it finishes the initial series of beeps, try moving down immediately to the lowest setting, not slowly.

If that’s not it, check to see if there’s any trim on your throttle. There shouldn’t be, initially.

I tried after the three beeps and the two after those, both didn’t fix it unfortunately. I think I need a new ESC :(

With help from Dustin from FT, I changed my transmitter protocol and rebound it to the receiver. It’s now got a telemetry signal, but the throttle still has the 2 blips, but they’re on the top side of the throttle now. I think it might be something in the Model -> Inputs menu, because I’m missing the labels for Throttle and Rudder, and idk how to get those back. I’ve attached a photo of it.

There are a few places where the channel order gets set in the radio. The one under SYStem settings, RADIO SETUP, (pg 3/7) will affect only "NEW" models that are created. It will NOT change models that already exist. Look at field "Def chan order". It will normally be AETR or TAER.

I prefer the order I started out using with Spektrum radios TAER and this is how mine is set.

The "Mode" two lines below that affects the joystick input mapping and in the states most people use mode 2 . Left stick is Rud/Thr and Right stick is Ele/Ail

It would be interesting to see this configuration on your radio.

In addition, each individual model can be customized completely different. This is done via MDL INPUTS (pg 5/12) and those can be modified with MIXES (pg 6/12)

Looks like you inadvertently deleted the text for the Thr and Rud inputs. if you hold the enter key down (roller pressed) you will get a sub menu, choose edit, then fill the "Input" field in with the appropriate text using the roller.

Also make sure that the "Source" field has the appropriate stick input selected.

To determine who is to blame - the transmitter or the regulator, it is necessary to have 2 voltage regulators. This makes troubleshooting easier. Remotely, this kind of help will last a long time...continues...continues... Or it may turn out that the motor wires are not in good contact with the regulator wires. That's why I always solder these wires.

I put the name back into the throttle and rudder channels, and while the “input” still shows “- - -“, they each respond to the corresponding stick movements. The throttle still has those two blips like before. Could it be a firmware issue? The date on the transmitter is from 2023.

I am pretty certain it is an ESC issue. Although if it is TAER, you should have the ESC plugged into Channel1 not channel 3. Would not hurt to try that before calling it bad.

That is not the kind of issue that would expect to happen with a radio firmware problem. I have been using the Pocket since it was released and have recently been playing with a whole slew of OpenTX/EdgeTX radios and firmware releases refurbing and updating radios for a local RC vendor/distributor. I have also been using OpenTX/EdgeTX for at least 7 years.

As long as the SOURCE field shows Thr, that is the main configuration that makes a difference. The Input field is just a label that will show next to the I column on the inputs screen and possibly be carried over to the channel in the mixes and outputs tab as well. Notice how on my mixes tab shown above the I Thr is shown and inputs it is shown as I Thr 100 ! Thr. Otherwise it would show as I01

Thank you. Mine is set up as AETR. I’ll email FT back and see if they have anything else for me to try.
