Extreme Tape UV testing

Extreme Tape has long been my repair tape and reinforcing tape of choice. We found out long ago that if you leave it exposed it will degrade into a fuzzy mess in a very short time. It doesn't like sunlight.
On my combat planes we use a lot of this tape, but then it is covered by the laminating film, this really extends the life of the extreme tape. For field repairs sometimes we forget to cover it with the clear packing tape (to protect it from UV) or we forget to go back later with a scrap piece (of the lam).

So, just thought I'd do a test. Laid some strips out on a piece of scrap EPP I had laying around.
Set it outside in the sun and gonna let it sit for a while.
Extreme Tape covered with laminating film
Extreme Tape covered with clear packing tape
Extreme Tape covered with white packing tape
Extreme Tape covered skinned over with a thin layer of hot glue
Extreme Tape covered skinned over with a thin layer of shoe goo
Just plain old Extreme Tape

I don't think it will take long for the uncovered Extreme Tape to start showing signs of degradation...

I use SPF50 sunblock spray everytime I go outside. I wonder, what would happen if I sprayed by tape with it :)

Kind of disappointing that extreme tape is so UV sensitive. Thanks for the heads up.
