Whistles

I found Nerf knock off footballs with whistles at Dollar Tree today. I have read in several threads that Nerf whistles make for cool sound effects for planes. I read that one guy put two or three in the tail cone nozzles of EDF jets to help imitate Jet sounds. Definitely want to do some experimenting with them. You get two per football. So I bought my grandson one and me two to take the whistles out and play catch without the whistles.

Eh? You got my attention. Please do post a video.

Jim, It will, but it will be a while, I am preparing to go out of town again later this week. Shopping for the grand children has helped me to make some fun finds also for pilot figures, I now have several Minion and Snoopy pilots. LOL

I am back in town. My two 50mm EDF units have arrived, still waiting on the ESCs and BEC unit to arrive. Then I start to build a lower rear section to use as a test bed. Then I will post results in a separate thread that I will share the link to so I don't hijack Ben's thread.

;) :applause:

DEFINITELY!!!! This is a Great Design!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏🏆(y)(y)
My Dad AND I both trained on the T-38....(of COURSE, it's a F-5 with less Bells, Whistles and WEAPONS)

If she flies ANYTHING like the real counterpart, she should have surprisingly LOW Wing Loading, for such stubby Wings!! It was just a very well engineered Airfoil.
[ANECDOTE warning: I was always a little bummed that my Dad got to 1.6 Mach in the T-38, but I was never checked out for supersonic flight!!! I had serious Knee Injuries, that washed me out of Flight Training, and eventually OTS...:cry::confused:]

ANYWAY.... I believe that THIS is going to be my first EDF Jet!! Great Job!!!

I am in process of assembling a 130% F-5 from Ben's plans. I am using 64mm EDFs.

I'm just wondering where is the CG on the twin 50mm version?

CG should be about 4" to 4.5" back from the centerpoint of the wing root leading edge. It ends up almost midway between the top wing fold crests.

Thank you very much sir.

I have another question. On your plans, on the first page in the upper right hand corner, there are two winglets for a lack of a better term. I cannot seem to find the use for them. I looked all over your build photos and cannot find use of them. Did I miss something?

Those are the wing 'spars', or spacers, if you like. They go in the middle of the wing between the score lines, in the area outlined in green on the plans.
