FAA Approved Remote ID List?

Maybe this is why FT didn't get their FRIA approved. FAA is too worried FT foamboard can be used for nefarious purposes. 🤣

Looks the same anyway.

I'm sure anyone using one for nefarious purposes is going to make sure they have a RID module on it so they don't defy any regulations.....

Bwah hah hah hahh

So wait, we have been safely flying in "airspace" all this time, what is it we are safely integrating again???

Weird, but consider this: if you are deemed in violation of an FAA regulation, you do not have the right to a jury trial. You are not assumed to be innocent until proven guilty. An "administrative law judge" (not an actual judge) decides. Seems kind of against every governmental assurance from the US Constitution back to the Magna Carta, now doesn't it?

I don't disagree, but as a commercial pilot and A&P mechanic for many years, Ive never run across a situation where the FAA imposed a penalty beyond suspension of the license and/ or additional training. This is for individual airmen. Companies can and do get fines. Its also my observation that if they do come after you for a violation, the evidence is pretty clear…

If you look around a little, you can see the FAA has indeed fined individuals for FAR violations while operating drones.

These are typically pretty egregious violations with multiple occurrences.

Typically, the fines are negotiated downwards. However, the FAA seems to hold your feet closer to the fire for incidences that end up making news headlines..

Fair point. I was referring to my full size flying and wrenching days. The threat of license suspension is a real deterrent for someone who has a significant investment in obtaining the license. Loss of employment and/or lifestyle…

My only personal experience with FAA ‘justice’ was when a student of mine made some poor decisions on a solo flight . As his CFI, I was also ‘invited’ to the hearing . The corrective action was a specified amount of additional training, given by me, and I had to re-certify him for solo again.
I do have a few (full size) flying buddies that did have more serious discussions with the Feds, but in all cases no fines, only ‘ counseling ‘ and more training.

Bruce makes another good point. If all the FAA does is postpone enforcement, we are still not "following the rules".
Will an insurance company use that weasel out of labiality claim?

Just saw that the FT EZ ID is live in the FT store, no mention of pre-order or back order. Things might finally be breaking loose.
It’s live. Orders being filled now.

Flight Test’s EZ-ID module is the one Joshua Bardwell and ItsBlunty (FPVFC) are both recommending. Spektrum’s SkyID is pre-order but seems bulky for a quad. EZ-ID looks like it can be added to a stack, or dropped into a 3D print case for fixed wing.

I emailed the AMA regarding Bruce's question about insurance. Here is their response.

Good morning,

Thank you for your inquiry in regards to your insurance benefits. AMA membership benefits are not contingent upon remote ID or flying at a FRIA.

Have a great rest of your week,

Gerri
