Faa proposed Transponder rules and how/if they change what we do as hobbyists

@Aireal Anarchist I’m almost scared to post here as I don’t wanna get a loud knock on my door by several unpleasant fellows arriving on Harleys.
It won’t be easy to control or enforce restrictions to the use of airspace below 400 ft. Under 400 ft is no problem for me.
Those that fly drones to snoop on emergency operations by police or fire fighters are probably subject to arrest. I don’t fly over emergency operations so I’m good there.
I’m rural & I expect the most serious restrictions & enforcement to apply to the big city kids. I think we’re both good there.
Government & industry use of the sub 400 ft airspace. I’ll resist the intrusion on my use of sub 400 ft airspace for my hobby but I’m not thinking rural will be a problem & I don’t intend to get arrested & probably won’t have a problem considering the vast open spaces where I fly DTFB.
I live on a steep hillside where my biker buddies say if you want to visit old Buckskin just go the house where it’s impossible to park your bike without it falling over, so tell your guys to be careful.

Nice...gotta love an old Panhead (y)
your probably correct it wont be an issue for us in the country....ha! but regardless I still maintain the same anarchist position to control MY own airspace, here in Oregon property owners over reacted and freaked out about FPV drones possibly peeping and we can legally control our airspace to 400ft a property owner only needs to inform you once not to fly over their property after that they can legally restrict you.
I will take advantage of that......so I give myself legal permission to fly on my own property regardless of any federal laws to sell out our rights to commercial entities
so although this move was to RESTRICT Rc flyers in Oregon , I will use this against them.......I actually would have a legal precedence to bolster my case.........its MY airspace over my property here in Oregon, and in MY airspace I decided I dont have any restrictions under 400ft nor require govt tracking devices...just like I can shoot my guns or drive without a license on my own property.;)

wouldn't it be esier to make us an rc park designate for us only in the hobbie send a letter to all aircraft owners not to invade this airspace. we now that they will look for the land away from people and buildings. for people with farm land i have seen so many people around the world take advantage of this technology. crop dusting and security take a look at your property in just a few minutes. some even sensor that tell you where your land needs water and minerals for your crops. so tell me what is so wrong with being able to do that?

I never get that high. Not really any reason to even with FPV unless you're trying to stretch your range. I do, however, get more than 400' distance with lot with most of my planes quite frequently. My FMS 2000 Beaver flies bigger circles than 400'!

I saw that earlier and if it is real that person needs a really severe beating, if its a fake that person needs a really severe beating for the heat we will get over the video fake or not, its not good for us
And that's what I hate about people being stupid. We all have to pay for it.

Anyone know if this is real? I have no experience in visual effects and can't really tell what is a compression artifact and what is a VFX artifact other than obvious stuff like composting and timing errors. Looks pretty legit and if it's real and/or hits the mainstream media it might have just sunk our ship.

a few of those clips look like they are on the ground (angles/etc), however that last one looks like it was in the air at least near the path of the planes.

One thing I found odd is that the rotor was only in frame a few times and only one side and the camera seemed to be very stable other then some really jerky camera rotations. If it was a Quad (given that it didn't seem to be moving much, just rotating to follow the flight), it would have needed a pan/tilt for the camera.

First clip, nothing to really frame the location of the camera.
Second clip - ~30 seconds, you can see a building top that appears to be above the camera location and not to far off.
third clip - ~37 seconds, you can again see a building at an angle that makes it looks like the camera is below the building. ~45 seconds, you can see a hand railing right next to the camera.
forth clip - nothing to frame the camera location, other then the pivot and what appears to be close to the level of the planes. unfortunately the clip cuts short - a few more seconds might have framed the camera better. however, all angles show the building well below the camera and we get that rotor in the corner after the fly by. this one definitely looks suspect at the very least. Either someone doing something they shouldn't have been doing, or a really good job of a fake.

The only thing I can say is, the last shot of that vid is CG. This much I know for sure. Beyond the subtle giveaways in lighting and motion, the most obvious is the smoke trails. You can even compare them to the earlier shots and see the smoke does not behave the same way. This is a 3D animation.

It does not matter though, the damage is done. This will be filed in with the dangerous shopping bag "drone strike" at the airport a few years back. Even when the truth comes out the argument becomes, "It may not have been, but could have been."

Build cheap, crash cheap
Yeah that's why I said if its real and/or it hits mainstream media since perception is all that really matters and the media is fully capable of omitting context or even just lying outright. I'm still on the fence about what's real and what's not, the compression did a number on the video and I don't really know what I'm looking at. There's a youtube guy who would be ideal for the job https://www.youtube.com/user/CaptainDisillusion

This is partially because the stupid vloggers on Youtube who buy a DJI Mavic 2 and then FLY IT AS HIGH AS IT CAN GO. which is thousands of feet!
So STUPID!
Yeah, most miniquad guys who race and freestyle stay under 100 feet! The only times we get above that are really tall building dives and the like. I always make sure i contact the owner and the FAA and let them know. (Unlike some other people on youtube that shall go unnamed!)
