Final Gremlin Configuration.

Wake up! Time to fly!
Finally got the Gremlin doing what I wanted.

After all the gear issues with them crappy AIO cameras to failed VTX's to my own design and build failures I think I am now happy how this is now flying. I still have to do some minor PID tweaks since I changed the weight and weight distribution this last rebuild But for now I am not gonna be making any major changes and just enjoy flying it for a while.

I hit several milestones yesterday with this during the 9 packs I got to fly over the course of the day. I got to fly around some trees and even managed to pull off a back flip between branches as well as a punch out with a quick yaw spin. Not too shabby for a Gremlin hehe. Then to cap off the day I actually managed to rip the playset out back with out damaging the quad at all.

Took some time and edited two videos from the flights to show the progress since the last flights on this lil beastie. The final set up is:

Frame: Josh Bixler carbon fiber frame with longer stand offs so I could invert the rear motors and get them more in line.
Power Pack: Stock Emax Gremlin power pack with Emax T2305 props (in purple of course) using Xt30 not stock JST.
Camera: Runcan Swift 2 micro with my own settings
VTX: Eachi9ne VTX03 set to 50 mw
Batteries: Main batteries ..Pulse 3s 450 mah 45c, Gens Ace 3s 450 mah 25c, for testing new settings and gear setups.. Gens Ace 2s 450 mah 25c

Pics to follow in later post for the reconstruction. Will wait til I can get batteries for my good camera as the ones I got during the build were with a 20 dollar action cam with really sad indoor capabilities.

Very nice! It’s such a great feeling when you get a quad where you want it mechanically. Then you can start focusing on just flying and having fun. I can tell you were having fun with that playground.

Yeah finally have it dialed in for SUPER low flight where it doesn't bounce or bunny hop. That gave me the confidence to not worry about the gaps and just be able to fly. HUGE step forward for me. It sure was fun once I got into it after so long without flying due to weather. Got today to do some more flying before winter returns with rain and snow and winds til early next week.

I may eve try to get the FT3d in the air today again.

Taz is pretty much dialed in for 4s. Need to finish the parts swapping. I got new receiver for Taz so the XM+ that was in that went into the Gremlin. That way I can tune thru the Lua scripts now. I have two 5s batteries so I will start tuning for them as soon as the weather breaks and that field out back is not a swamp from melted snow. That or the cow poo at the park integrates with the soccer field better....

I need to make more then one gate to practice on with the 5 inchers. I did almost manage to get the Alien thru the 14 inch keyhole gate in the videos here after forgetting the 19 inch gate was on the other end from where I was sitting hehe.

This is the last edit from the past few days since the rebuild.. no more for a while as there is 4 inches of snow and rising from this Nor'easter rolling thru next two days here.

Snow presents a hazard but it also presents an opportunity to get some video that is less common. Come on, you can see the snow-capped trees right? Just go for a sightseeing flight... if you dare, then post the video.

Sure sure taunt me into doing something out in the cold hehe. I have thought of that but its a tad to breezy for the Gremlin to try dodging trees when the gusts hit. It is possible I could probably put the Alien up for a flight or two to test the 20 dollar action cam out though.

I will put that on my to do list for tomorrow and see depending on the grocery shopping run that was planned. Weather channel says cloudy tomorrow with winds between 9 and 15 mph.

Ty sir. power loss it frequent here between the winds and us being smack in the center of the main power grids to various parts of the state. We take a quick surge or drop every time the big automatic switching for the 115 kv feeds rearrange the grid.

If things get really bad in the complex I live in they send out trailer based generators to get power back for the abundance of medical devices people use here. They wont go over 6 hours without power here from what they told me when I asked once.

Well I did not manage to get any flights in the snow. I really don't like tempting fate against Bills Law. I did however manage to get a few sessions in on the Gremlin and was out today for two packs before rain (that was not supposed to happen) hit. Was pretty overcast day but I think I have my video worked out well for pretty much all weather from sunny to what I was flying here today. Just a tweak on the gamma and contrast and it plays nicely. I also think I finally worked out some good export settings for VSDC editor when using footage from my crappy DVR,

Anyway here is what I just put together. Been hittin the gates hard as I can and as soon as the yard monkeys get back into the yard care regimen I wills tart using the tiny gates as well as the key hole gates. I have some footage from the park the other day I need to cob together where I was using them all as well as trees to practice around.

Now that this is flying nicely AND consistently I will edit my build thread with current pictures, spec's and screenies of all settings.

Cool video! Nice showing off with gate #3 between your legs. You don't want to hit that gate too high he he.

Thank you Ken. This is finally set up where I can have fun with it and just fly and not have to worry over butt bombs and tumbling so much. I wanted to gradually work up to where I would go thru the small keyhole then power loop and go thru the larger one but with the breeze and the rain I never got that much in the zone to try. Good weather is coming so that WILL happen for sure.

I whacked my ankle twice the other day doing that at the table outside my building along the tree line. There is a slight elevation from the trees to the tables that is deceiving when flying that low so takes a lot of concentration. Couple little cuts not much more then scratches would be from a cat..
