So that's a "No" on the straight VBAT power... :(
I wouldn't power your receiver direct with the lipo battery. In a bigger plane you could use a seperate 4.8v flight battery to power the receiver and servos. But its too much extra weight for such a small model, a seperate BEC is a better option and not much more of weight increase. There isnt much advantage using a seperate BEC its used to retain receiver power to your servos when the lipo stops supplying power to the motor. Normally you get a limited amount of power reserved, so you can land your plane when the battery runs too low to power the motor.
Take the hit and buy an ESC with integral BEC, thats my advice not much more than buying a seperate BEC.

Can it be called beautiful before it successfully maidens?

I hope yours does a better job of fighting that pesky gravity than mine.
Yes it can, it's beauty increases with flight. Thankyou, my track record is poor but If it works I will post here.

Well... I can't say I wasn't expecting something like this...

Probably should've dona an off-power glide test before the powered test...
Unfortunately I didn't think of it until I was on my way back home from the park.
Sorry it crashed but it made me smile :)
