First Time Setup Help

Hi Everyone,

This is the first time I have ever built an rc anything and I need a little help to see if this set up is good enough. I'm planning on using this set up from the FT Flyer to the FT Versa Wing to the FT Mustang.

I dont really plan on getting anything new as in motor and reciever.

Looks like it should be ok but I'm fairly new as well. Personally I'd go for a 1200kv motor, trade a little speed for torque. I have the same motor but the 1100KV version on my FT 3D with 10x4.5 prop and she gets air born no problem. ^_^

I've been at this for a few months now. The motor you chose works well. I have one and use it on quite a few different models so its a good one to grow with. I have used it on a mustang, bloody wonder, FT-22. It works great. I also like this motor. Its a great motor to start with and its nice and light.

That ESC is good. I like to run the HK 18A escs. They are like $8 and I have had good luck with them but if you were to run a 3S and a heavy pitched prop the 30A may be a good idea.

The 2200mA is going to be too big for an FT flyer. I have been running the 3s 1000mA packs and really like them. I have 6 of them now. I use them on everything except my quads and haven't really had any issues. Flight time is decent, 8-10 minutes on the lighter slower planes, 5-6 mins on the larger planes. Maybe get both?

servos look good. I also like the turnigy 9G servos. They are a little cheaper.

Radio is up to you. Lots of opinions here. I run a turnigy 9X with a dsmx module in it and er9x firmware upgrade. I really like it and for under $100 I think I have a really nice radio. Turnigy also just released the i6 radio which looks pretty nice and its only $55. Its programmable so you can run multiple models on the same radio. If you plan to stick with this hobby, a programmable radio is a must as you will want to have multiple aircraft around. this radio also supports basic telemetry which is pretty cool!

props look good too.

Don't forget the little things like connectors for battery and motors and I didn't see a charger listed.

All in all you would be good with what you listed, I'm just offering up a few more options based on my personal experience.
