Hey guys and gals, it is finally time! Volunteer signup is available on the Flite Fest website so you can start signing up now.

I'm super excited but short on time so I'm just going to jump into some key information.

First, let me remind everyone that this thread isn't for general Flite Fest 2026 information. Please take that to the relevant threads.

Every volunteer from previous years deserves a huge hug, and you can cash that in at any time from me. You are the beating heart of Flite Fest and that is going to be true for this year as well. When you sign up this year, please remind me that you've volunteered in the past and where. It can help with this year's assignments.

This year will be different from previous years. You'll notice on the signup that parking attendant isn't an option. We won't have anyone stationed in the parking lot in the blistering sun, away from all the festivities. We will have a handful of volunteers to help park the campers, but that won't be like the usual directing traffic on Lee Rd all day.

A few new positions have opened up, or at least a few things have been renamed. It's all just due to the logistics of the event, and the names and descriptions should be pretty obvious. If you're not sure about what something means, feel free to ask here!

I'm looking for more volunteers this year than previous years. I'm aiming for about 250. We don't *need* that many, but it would ensure that everyone gets the most time possible to enjoy the event. The more volunteers we have, the fewer hours each volunteer will be needed. If we hit that goal, it'll be a breeze, for sure.

I have a little bit more support this year, so I have a few new tools in-hand to help with scheduling and the like. I know that that wasn't at all a cause of tension last year  but it will definitely be better this year.

Make sure to encourage your friends and family to sign up to volunteer as well. We can have a bit of leeway if certain limitations will need to be observed. In the past, I've had folks only able to work one shift, or who preferred to work several long shifts. I won't know that unless you tell me.

Because things are a little more tight with legal waivers and such, expect a little bit more of a restriction with younger volunteers. Kids can work alongside their parent in certain volunteer positions, but if they're too young, they won't be working alone. And of course, the driving of the shuttles will have to be done by licensed drivers. Just things like that.

Guys and gals, I'm so excited that I can't even think of what else to say just yet. Go sign up and encourage others to do so as well.

Thanks!
Dustin

I'm so excited to see the signups coming in. Thank you all so much, and keep encouraging your friends and family to volunteer. Every year, we promise only a couple of shifts over the course of the event and every year, we have a handful of folks who work most of the time. They're genuinely willing to do so without coercion but I still don't want to ask anyone to do that this year. I want this event to be one of the best we've ever had for everyone, and especially for the volunteers, who are the beating heart of Flite Fest!

This is odd. I watched this live 3 weeks ago. Ep 253. But this video was just uploaded today and is Ep 251.

If they go past 255, they will need to upgrade from an 8-bit episode counter. Maybe they found a number that hadn't been used. Going to 16 bits can be quite a bit of work.

Yeah, it's a re-upload on the main channel. The bad news is, they got my ugly mug on the thumbnail this time.
That's not an ugly mug. I have one just like it. (y)
