This will be my first FTFF and I am sure it will be fun. That said, there is no comparison to a new child, of course. Congratulations for the one inside awaiting to be seen and please do post again once you child is born. As a father and grandfather I am very happy for you.
This year will be my first Flite Fest. I've registered for all three days and am a little afraid I'll get bored. What are a volunteer's responsibilities? What does the time commitment look like?
But, volunteer anyway. You will likely be signed up for a couple four hour shifts for a total of 8 hours. There are lots of different tasks that you can volunteer for. Andre will have more details forthcoming. You will get to meet a lot of people being part of the volunteers. Plus, you get a cool orange t-shirt.

Get Bored....... More like you don't have enough eyes to see everything, not enough legs to take you everywhere you want to go, not enough hands to fly all the planes you want to..... and on and on and on.
After each Flight Fest I have been to, all I want to do is go back. Go fly with friends, hang out with my online family, meet new pilots.
Being bored will not be a problem... but I would recommend volunteering for the experience, and it is always good to roll up your sleeves and get something done.
My son and I volunteered last year and had the opportunity to meet some great folks (volunteers and attendees) that we would not have met otherwise. We volunteered for two four hour shifts each.
