This is what we’re working with. A dirt runway and a paved. There is a small campsite on site and local hotels.

It is a moderatley well used airport, so we may only have a single runway. I will speak to the owners about closing and then contact FT if it is a possibility.

Also, there HAS to be hotels near the location, big factor, I don’t think we can get anything as good as last ffwest though, with the hotel literally right next to the event.

So, I'm wondering...Have there been any discussions internally about a FFW for 2019 yet? I know, we've got 6 months until 2019, but it's always best to start planning, right?

I ask because my club was hinting that they wanted to do something like Joe Nall, and call it Joe Fall...Brook. The joke with that is that we fly out of Fallbrook, CA...

That said, I realized that we have, at our field, some dry camping spots, a heli pad AND fixed wing runway, a separate drone field that opens at the end of July that's 2 mi. down the freeway, TONS of RV campgrounds just east of our field on the 76, Pala Casino & hotel, Casino Pauma, Harrah's Rincon...There's also about 1/2 an hour west, for those Top Gun movie junkies, you can go out and see the house that Kelly McGillis' character lived in, out in Oceanside. :)

I mean, we just paved and re-striped the 600'x40' runway, rebuilt our pit area coverings for both the heli and fixed wing areas...I think it could work!

Or maybe the board shoots down that idea of having a cast of thousands (of new fliers) showing up at our field...a mass launch to break a world record might kill us, and I KNOW we'd have to set up spotters to watch people over-flying the freeway...
