Tallflyer, thanks for the Christmas gift! I have not built a scratch build before, but I will attempt this one right after the first of the year.

This is one great site guys, I will post pics here when I start and hopefully a video of it flying!!!

Thanks again and Merry Christmas!

Cool! Thanks for the present :D
Nice basic design :) I got one set of components for exactly that size lying around. After finishing my Tricopter I´ll see what plan I take to build :)

I designed this plane so it can be built out of 6mm EPP foam or Depron
The plane uses all basic hardware
9 gram servo for the Ailerons
5 gram servos for the Elevators and rudder
10 amp esc
1000-1300kv motor
9047-9050 prop
2 cell 350-500 mah pack (25-30C)
Dont know a AUW yet have not built one.

Stay tuned for more info.....

Just to make that clear for everyone. That setup above is the most common one used for those typer of planes... F3P planes always are built pretty similar.
For more details about weight:
Motor around 20g (Try to keep below 20) (I got a 1700kv one with 19g)
Servos: If they are good one and you´re going to fly more indoor I would even suggest to go for 5g Servos overall!
A 2S 450 mAh is also the mean if you wanna see it like that. (I personally use 500 2S)

Thanks everyone :) The guys at Flitetest jump started me and got me excited about RC again.. So it's all about giving back.
Also if I can inspire a new pilot to try and build a new plane that's how we grow this hobby I have loved since I was 13 years old!

Based on another plane that I built here is a Motor that should work.

TURNIGY 2204-14T 19g Outrunner (USA Warehouse)

An excellent motor for planes up to 220 grams (8 oz) using 2 li-poly cells.
Very lightweight at 19 grams including, with an integrated prop saver for APC 8x3.8 SloFly or APC 8x4 E propeller and firewall mount inbuilt. Great for small 3D planes weighing around 6 oz, or aerobatic planes up to 8 oz.
Use with a 10 Amp brushless ESC and small 7.4V lithium batteries in the 400mah - 800mah range.
The motor features a 3mm hardened steel shaft, dual ball bearings, integrated prop saver.

Spec.
Model: A2204-14
Cells: 2-3
Kv: 1450rpm/V
Maxx Eff: 74%
No load Curr. .3A
Max Current: 7.5A
Weight: 19g
Int. Resistance: 550mh
Dimensions: 27.6 x 11.5mm
Recomended Model: (3D 220g or less)
Recomended prop: 8040/2S or 7035/3S

This is similar to the AXi 2203/52 or 2204/54
Use a 10A ESC with this motor.

I'd give you some rep for that ;) I see you've been busy in google sketchup! I do a bit of drawing in there too, very easy to learn, but still has some great features. Curves are t always great, but at the price, I can live with that!

Very generous of you +1

Google sketchup is my best friend when it comes to Quick design of a plane from a sketch! I also use Gimp the free Photoshop clone and a great free program called PosteRazor to make all my PDF files.
