Flying donkey,

Not a FT Spitfire, but there are several Phoenix Spitfires over here:

https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=31220771&postcount=1

Click on the link next to a Spit that looks promising and follow the installation instructions.
For the time being, one of them might work good enough as a practice vehicle.
Meanwhile, I'll take a look at building your a FT Spit,

Regards, rick
Cheers Rick.

Just had a look through these links and they look great. As soon as I return from holiday I’ll give them a bash on Phoenix. Much appreciated

Spitfire Phoenix Model

Hey donkey,

Current paint scheme is shown in the two attachments.
That said, it's easy to paint it like your personal model if you wish.

Just added the flyable version to this post.
Unzip the attached pkg file, install as you would a Phoenix update and you'll find "FT Spitfire" in the scale list.
Detailed installation instructions: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zj2o7vx9b0315zj/Installing Model from a PKG File.pdf?dl=0

Enjoy your vacation!

Cheers, rick

Tiny Trainer Phoenix Model

Here are updated 3 channel and 4 channel Tiny Trainer Phoenix models.
John's original models work fine, but I did my own so I could experiment with different paint schemes before painting my TT.

The scheme I chose is inspired by the Citabria - one of my favorites, though I choose all while instead of multi-color.
My plane was initially all brown paper, and I figured a white scheme would give good contrast and be easy to "paint".
I used printable label paper, which worked like a champ in creating this scheme.

Both Phoenix models are tuned to fly like mine.
The 3 channel uses a polyhedral wing and of course turns with rudder only (mixed to use the aileron channel).
The 4 channel has ailerons, which I've implemented as flaperons. They work fine, with little tip stall.
Cycle the flaps before launch and you'll notice the slight elevator deflection.
That's a mix added to mitigate pitch-up when the flaps are deployed.

Unzip the attached PKG files, install as a Phoenix updates and you'll find both Tiny Trainers in the trainer list.
The 4 channel is way more aerobatic that a trainer should be, but that's part of the beauty of this aircraft.
The aileron wing makes it aerobatic, whereas the polyhedral wing is more trainer like.

Index of my Flight Test models: https://forum.flitetest.com/index.p...enix-rc-model-index.27096/page-20#post-376142

FYI, the first two pictures are screenshots of my Phoenix models taken from Blender.
The last two pictures are my actual Tiny Trainer "painted' using label paper.

Enjoy! rick

FliteTest planes are now being added to Phoenix RC Simulator. This post will be updated regularly as more planes are created.

To install:

  • Click the link below for the plane you want.
  • Unzip filename.zip to C:\Users\Richard\Documents\PhoenixRC\Downloaded\Models\User-made\Airplanes folder. (Remove the space in Mo dels if you see one. Its not there in edit view)
  • In PhoenixRC click Model > Change > Airplanes > Electric
Optionally click Model > Change, at the top left Select Sort by: Manufacturer and you will see a Flite Test category!
  • Select the plane you want and fly!

In case anybody doesn't know, Phoenix isn't available anymore, but you can buy the "22 in 1 flight simulator Cable" from Ebay, Aliexpress, Banggood, Amazon and all those places for around $10. It will do everything you want, as you'll see when it arrives.

Anybody that hasn't got one of these $10 simulators should get one ASAP. I guarantee that it'll be the best $10 you ever spent.

One more thing. You connect your transmitter to the PC with a cable from the trainer port to the USB dongle. There are some adapter cables to cover most trainer ports. Obviously, if you don't have a port to connect a trainer cable to on your transmitter, it's not going to work. In that case they do a slightly more expensive version with a dummy transmitter, but the setup for that is a little more complicated. The dongle version is easy.

I'd like to thank all the guys for their hard work in making these models available to us. I've been flying the Sportster. The one I downloaded had been modified by increased motor RPM (19000) and very rearward C og G, which changed it into a 3D aerobatic plane. When I altered it to 12000 rpm and G-spot where it should be, it flies exactly like my real one.

rickp, thank you for keeping this alive. I've been struggling for days, I finally got everything working and I am having a blast with this sim! I had so much trouble getting it set up to accept new models, that I started a thread to help others:

https://forum.flitetest.com/index.php?threads/phoenix-rc-and-ft-models.56476/

I'm currently simming my (your) Tiny Trainer. That's the first bird I plan to fly in real life. After that it's going to be my Mighty Mini Scout. I've seen you've got a model up of the Simple Scout. If you are still taking requests the Mighty Mini Scout with with the scallops and the A Pack is mine.

Thanks in advance, even if you don't do it. You and so many others have already contributed so much. Thank you.

My pleasure, buzzbomb.
Let me know if there are any new Phoenix models that you need and I'll see what I can do.

I'm not pushing. Your life, your time. I'm just wondering if you've considered finishing the work JohnRambozo started and get all the FT plains into the sim? I'm having such a wonderful time flying them, it'd be cool if we could fly them all. If only briefly.

How about this:
You prioritize the missing ones in the order you'd like to see them, then I'll build them as time allows.

Fair deal? Cheers, rick

That's is more than a fair deal. I'm off on the 11th and will be less brain dead. I'll drop you a list.

Just out of curiousity, Is it possible to build some float versions of the bushwacker, simple cub, or any other planes?

rickp

Active member
Absolutely!
How about the Simple Cub, as I already have a Phoenix model of that?
And I see that Flight Test even has them available (but out of stock).
Should have a Simple Cub on floats in a few weeks.

OK, rickp. Epiphany time. I've mentioned I'm brain dead after work. It's taken me this long to realize, I don't have to make the entire list just to prioritize the first FT plane I would like you to do out of the list. The FT Mini Scout with scalloped wings. I SO want to fly that beautiful bird. I'll get the rest of the list of missing planes to you on the 11th.

My pilot, Le Goalot is in complete agreement. That's the lego-hand version of a thumbs up. Plus, he's got a helmet!

Anything for Le Goalot!
QUESTION: how do you want the Mini Scout painted?

So that's two FT aircraft in the queue - a Simple Cub with floats and the Mini Scout.
Both should be fairly quick as I already have Simple Cub and Simple Scout models to work from.

Cheers, rick

QUESTION: how do you want the Mini Scout painted?
So long as it's not blue or green. Maybe it'd be simplest just to scale down the paint scheme from your Simple Scout. That one looks really good. Otherwise, I don't really have a paint scheme in mind. (I don't expect it to last long enough to need one.) I'd just like to be able to see and orientate it.
