FliteTest in Phoenix RC (Model Index)

buzzbomb

I know nothing!
rickp, in case you didn't see it, this is an excerpt from my first flight video post on my Tiny Trainer build thread:

"That was the first battery. My first ever RC flight, with my first ever RC plane build. I flew through almost three batteries. I nose-dived at the end of the first battery. I successfully landed at the end of the second battery, and nose-dived about two-thirds of the way into the third."

Three batteries on my first ever flying session. All my mistake recovery maneuvers were absolutely automatic. I didn't think about them at all. My thumbs just knew what to do. That's thanks to the Phoenix Sim and all the time I've spent flying your models. Thank you for my wonderful first flight experience.

Pretty soon, I'll be moving on to the Sport Wing for the Tiny Trainer. You betcha I'll be simming it beforehand! Thank you again. (y)(y)(y):)

FT Flyer and FT Delta Phoenix Models

With apologies, these were completed some time ago and I have no idea why I didn't post them sooner!

Unzip and install the pkg file as a Phoenix update and you'll find "Flitetest Flyer" and "Flitetest Delta" in the electric list.

Music to my ears, buzzbomb.
Comments like yours are why I continue to build Phoenix models.
And you're obviously much more intelligent than I am, as my first (and very short) flight was tried before I discovered simulators.

BTW, would you mind posting a link to your video? I'm apparently google challenged this morning.

Thanks! rick

Dear Rickp

I tried to add Aileron on FT-Flyer model but Phoenix does not wotk with it. When I selected the plane it allways closed itselfs. Could you please modify your FT-Flyer with Aleron and Post it again...

Certainly - any input on aileron size? Regards, rick

Rickp, I've found that in real life, the 3ch TT is considerably more lively than your model of it. My settings in Phoenix are all at 100% but the model barely reacts to the sticks. I've found the the actual plane is capable of getting really stupid, really fast. My trans is at 70% expo.

I honestly do not know if the difference is on my end or the model design. Just wanted to share the thought, and say thank you again.

Hi Dagger,

I'll add ailerons that seem right to me and post it here in a few days.

With respect to a good first models, if you want to build one I like the Tiny Trainer.
Easy to learn to fly with the dihedral wing, and you can switch to the aileron wing as you improve.
I built that one myself and its a great model.

If you want to buy a RTF model, you can't go wrong with the Sport Cub S as it has SAFE mode to help newbies.
A friend of mine has one and it works great.

Thanks guys, for all the FT models. It's been a frustrating week with the 22 in 1 sim not recognizing any of the FT models. The problem turned out to be the Phoenix sim was only version 5.5 and needed to be upgraded. Since Phoenix has been discontinued their website was no help. I did find this:
PHOENIX 5.5 UPDATES may be found here: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...postcount=2968
It has the updates, I used all 4 and Phoenix works like a champ with the FT planes. Hope this helps someone.

This is where I got all the update files for 5.5... from 5.5.g to 6.0.i. I'm currently running 6.0.i and have have no issues running all the wonderful FT Planes available.

ftp://109.228.28.152/Files/Program/

If you're asked for a username - use guest... and leave password empty.

I'm am brand new to Phoenix (and RealFlight). Yesterday I tried the FT Corsair... what a hoot. Hand launch... almost fell off my chair it was so cool.

It took me 2 purchase tries to get Phoenix... one from Amazon - it came without a dongle... and then a good order from Banggood.

I've got it hooked up to my DX9. It's a blast.

It appears my link was off, it should be http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=40634949&postcount=2968. In any case, davidkdk has a better choice, thanks David. It also took me 2 tries to buy the sim, the one from Amazon didn't have the dongle or the cables. When I returned it I put it in the UPS bin and there was no further record of it going anywhere, just disappeared.

Jim
I reported the issue to Amazon and asked for just the dongle to be sent out. No dice. I don't have any way of sending it back... so I'm out that purchase. First time cheated by Amazon.

David,

Do you have any way of contacting the specific Amazon seller directly? That might help, rick

FT Flyer with Ailerons

Here's Dagger69's Flyer with ailerons, and I have to say that I enjoy it a lot more than the 3 channel version.
It's a blast - take it for a spin and see for yourself.
