Hello again!

Your flysky radio outputs a stream of signals (as most do) from the socket on the back. This stream can be plugged into your computer audio input. But you'll need a couple of programs for the computer to make sense of it.

1. Smart Propo Plus

2. PPjoy

These will work on windows 7, but if you have the 64 bit version, you must disable driver signing enforcement on start up of your computer. This is easy to do, just hold down f8 while your computer boots, and it will give you several options like safe mode etc. near the bottom of the list is Disable Driver signature enforcement. highlight that and your good to go. You will, however, need to do this each time you wish to use these programs.

Once you have these working, then it should allow you to use just about any flight sim you wish. I use Clear View, though its not free, its about US$40. It does have a free demo version with a few planes.

But you'll get many different answers on which flight sim to use, there are many to choose from. As for free, i guess FMS, but I've never got it to work properly. I havent looked for a free one in some time, so there may be better options available.

Good luck!

Your Tx should be off I think - mine turns on automatically when you plug in the audio cable.

It's usually a 3.5 mm male to 3.5 mm male audio cable. tereo or mono, whichever.

Its been a while since I've done this, so details are a little sketchy! Once you have installed ppjoy and smart propoplus, open them.

Turn your Tx off, now plug an audio cable into the PC line in (blue socket?) and into the back of your transmitter. your Tx should turn itself on. I use a stereo cable, but that's what I had at hand. I don't know if it matters whether its stereo or mono

you need to set up a virtual joystick in ppjoy. Click Add, then in the pop up window: you want virtual joystick in the parallel box. I'm guessing, but in controller type put Radio control Tx. Interface type I have no idea what i have for that, I'll guess and say LPT joystick. you can leave controller number as controller 1. I would let you know exactly what I have, but it wont let me see the options I have set!

In smart Propo in the modulation, select PPM and in the audio source put what your sound card is. Mine is called realtek high def audio. Check the virtual joystick extension (if it isn't already) and the Auto0detect up the top under shift polarity.

Now you should have a working virtual joystick hopefully! Open clearview, and you need to calibrate the tx, as well as select what inputs do what. This can be a bit of trial and error, but it displays the signals its getting, so you can wiggle one stick and see which input moves. then change the control that its supposed to move.

Once that's done, click calibrate, and follow the prompts.

you should now be setup and ready to fly!

Once again, It has been a while since I set this up and cant remember all the steps, I do remember there was a bit of fiddling to get it to work.

If its not working, systematically go through all the options and try different things and see if it helps.

I think you need to run a patch - here it is.

Hi Colorex where did this patch come from? I have had a lot of problems getting my 9x working with clearview on a vista machine. Works ok with my other txs but not the 9x. Would appreciate some more info,
Thanks

Got it from there. But I'm not using a 9X. I'm using an old 72MHz Tx.
Try using Start > Programs > SmartPropoPlus > Utilities > RCAudio (Thermometer) to make sure you're getting signal.

Remember, Clearview is apparently based on Java or something so it might be some permission you need.

Run clearview from C:/clearviewRC/clearview/clearview - it's not an .exe file it is .cmd (script)

Run as administrator.

Con, is your 9x a turnigy one? if it is, there will be no signal coming out of the trainer port without doing the mod. Use the Thermometer like Colorex said to see if you are getting any signal.

Lovi, your Transmitter may be doing the same thing, as the Tx module may be different to mine. Check for a signal on the thermometer. Maybe try a different cable if your not getting a signal before trying the mod.

Hi N'A'M
I'm getting plenty of signal in fact there may be too much. I find the models on the simulator are not controllable and they jitter around a lot. I have done the resistor mod that was recommended on the 9x forum on RCGRoups but that made no difference. I have also tried adjusting the expo and rates to try and limit the signal size, still no good. The patch was just another idea I hadn't tried but wanted to know more about it before trying it. I've got Clearview working great with my Hitec Optic Sport tx but would also like it to work with my 9x tx.

ps thanks Colorex as well, my tx is actually a Flysky unit not Turnigy. Plenty of signal!

hmm, maybe the timing on the signal isn't quite right. Not sure it the standard 9X firmware has any ability to adjust the timing, the ER9x does. If you don't/cant flash it, then I'm stumped! Just to double check, you have your tx set to PPM not PCM?

Also check this, there are different signal modes in SPP Console. I'm usin PPM Walkera for my Tx. Open Thermometer and flip around between settings.

Hi folks, I am going to order a Turnigy 9x. I plan on using it for my simulator right now to learn with. What else would I need to purchase in order to connect it to a HP WIN7 laptop? I plan on using rcdesktop and bmi as my sims. As always thank you all for your time
