as shown in the picture of the "j50" i think you should really try all moving wing tips or AMTs

I went a little bit down this rabbit hole after seeing the j50 wing tips and it turns out these have been a concept since the 90s but it seems that the Chinese are the only ones that use them on their tail less planes (that we know of)

I'm pretty sure they just stall the outer most tip of the wing to cause a lot of drag for yaw control. the counteracting roll moment can probably be easily fixed with some aileron mixing

I'm still a bit unsure about passive yaw stability for these designs
Worth considering if I ever pick this project back up. Overall, though, I don't think they should be necessary if you use split elevons or have dedicated drag rudders and they might not be worth the added complexity. I suspect they probably are more to give better roll control at high angles of attack since I think I a similar system has even been tested on an FA-18 at one point.
