FMS Homepage

FMS is the most popular simulator to date, because of its price. It is available for download for free. FMS is NOT the nicest simulator, but it works and it's free.

This thread will be dedicated to discussing topics about FMS, such as functions, controllers, and problem solving.

You may also post links to downloadable models.

Hey thanks for posting this. I have just the person in mind, the owner of a 1400mm Airfield P-40 with retracts. It's a beauty but he has only scant stick time, the last of it was augering in the last of my Funbats.

I am interested in a Mac version of a flt sim if you or anyone else knows of one, free would fit nicely with the budget. I didn't see one on the FMS site.

No thanks, I've abandoned that life. But thanks anyway. At least I can share the legit FMS program link you gave.

You might need a file called D3DRM.dll, this file does not come with Windows Vista, so you'll need to download it from here. Paste it into the folder C:\Program Files\FMS\ That should fix your problem.

Otherwise, have you tried compatibility mode?
Go to C:\Program Files\FMS\ right click on FMS.exe and click on properties. Select Compatibility tab and activate the first option, choosing Windows XP.

I recommend that you download FMS Alpha 8.5 . This is just so much superior to Beta 7. It has the wind option available, so you can land your plane like this.

Well colorex I can honestly say I have tried every witch way including your suggestions. The alpha version downloaded ok but I
still cant get it going.
The aerofly pro version zipped up lovely but it wont let me fly without an usb interface cable I can get one on e bay for a couple o pounds, I also got the phoenix software installed off of piratebay and it looks superb but same problem i need a cable.

Well I'm running FMS on the integrated graphics (Primary Display Driver)... Do you have that option available? What options show up in File > Graphics card?

i think this is where i write...hey i downloaded fms earlier and got it running with the dll download so thank you, but it seems my controller (R/C) isn't compatible because the software doesn't recognise it. I'm using a TS4 sky master 2.4GHz so it's not like it's old, any idea anyone?

I don't know anything about controllers, but I'm on a JR XP652, I use a stereo audio cable into the Mic input, and I installed PPJoy and SmartPropoPlus. See here.

I hope that helps!

Seeing as how Piracy is illegal

Piracy is illegal and I suggest any references to it or where to download it should be kept off the forum. Perhaps even deleting previous posts referring not only to what the infringing copy is but also which site to download it from.

If people can't afford to pay for something which will improve their flying they should take up knitting.

By the way, Vista isn't the main reason FMS won't work it's more often the use of Nvidea Graphic cards. They just don't like each other. FS1 is selling at around $29.00 since FS2 came out. At the moment you can get a $20 payback on FS2 which makes it a good buy. By far the best value is Clearview. From memory I paid about $39.00 for it.
Not a lot when you consider it could save you hundreds of dollars smashing your virtual planes into virtual dirt rather than the real thing.
