My P17 is ready to fly, does someone know where the correct CG is? With a 1800 3S Graphene lipo mine is at 8cm from the leading edge of the upper wing.

I'm planning to build this, but some details would help, like recommended CG position, weight of the plane, recommended throws. In the diagrams I see in sheet 3, pages 4 and 8, some squares that I think are the spars just missing the correct colors, is this assumption correct ?

For the motor, I'm thinking 3d printing it using some of these files:

Both should fit with power pack B and C.

Mine weights 850 gram, with 1800 3S lipo, the squares in sheet 3 are the wingspars, the throws are not so critical i think, i start with 12 degrees low rates and 20 degrees for high rates, but i'm a little worried about the cg, hope that someone can help with that.

Sounds good! Nice Build! Its always better to be nose heavy than tail heavy, so I wouldn't put it behind the LE of the bottom wing. I think that the other guy who crashed it on the first flight had the CG too far aft, and I'd hate to see it happen again. Keep us updated!

So I have always been around the real Stearman because my grandfather restores and flies them. I decided to make the Stearman because I had a balsa wood kit lying around for a rubber band powered model. I took the plans to Staples and got them scaled up to a 40 inch wingspan and built it. The fuselage uses a box surrounded by formers and outer skin to make a beautiful (completely foam board) fuselage. The wings use a new wingtip technique to make more realistic wingtips, and inside the wing is a box spar. This version only has ailerons on the bottom wing, just like the original, but still has plenty of aileron control. The paint scheme on the plane matches my grandfathers stearman- even the numbers on the side. All my plans are hand drawn but if anyone knows how to make online plans I would love to post them for everyone to use!

Note- I will bring this to Flite Fest Ohio 2019- See ya there!

Flight- This thing flies on rails! It flies amazing in calm weather, but gets bumped around a lot in the wind due to the second wing.

Specs- Power Pack B or C recommended, 40 inch wingspan, 4-5 sheets of foam to build, 9x6 wood prop is my favorite prop.

Of course, they are not very different from the flite test full size plans, you can print them as poster (with cutmarks enabled if you like) with adobe acrobat reader.

I did some research and it turns out that there is some kind of unpatched firmware glitch between the Taranis QX7s and the V8FRII that causes short failsafes. I am going to stock up on new, more compatible receivers at Flite Fest so that this glitch will stop. I will put a new reciever in the Stearman as soon as I can so that it can fly. Come say hi if you see it!
