Foam in the UK

If talking foamboard I use Daler Rowney from my local art shop, the stuff sold by the Hobbyzone group is also said to be good and a little cheaper. Though nothing over here is as cheap as the Dollar stuff available in America and by a long way £4 is probably the cheapest for a A1 sheet which is about 6 dollars.

If talking insulation foam look for Blue or Pink verities but prices have gone through the roof in the last couple of years after more EEC meddling.

Hobbycraft foam

Hi, thanks for the help. I was wondering if the foamboard they sell in hobbycraft is any good. It has paper on each side but has no branding on it. I have never made a plane so I don't know how to tell.

The reports I have read suggest the Hobbycraft stuff is ok. The paper does offer quite a bit of strength to the foam so should be left on were possible.

Depron is similar but without the paper, and it also has quite an obvious foam texture that you may not like compared to the smooth paper surface of foam board.
