I know nothing!
Well, I didn't get to fly yesterday. :( I got to fly today, though! :D

I never got to open her up. She's just not comfortable to fly as she's always trying to roll over to the left. I thought the problem would be obvious, once I got her to ground. It wasn't. So I looked some more when I got her home. I still don't know why she rolls so hard to the left.

If I stare really hard, the vertical stabilizer isn't perfectly vertical. I've got to look really hard, though. These planes are not usually that intolerant of a build mistake. Especially a very, very minor one. I've no idea why it tries to constantly roll left. Everything seems straight. I want to take her back up tomorrow, but I'm sort of at a loss at the moment.

She's not flyable the way she is, and I don't know what to do about it. I've never actually been in this situation. It's a bit disconcerting.

Sounds like you need to add a little right thrust angle. You can add a washer or two to the left screw so the motor points right a little. I do this to my planes and they track straight like an arrow. Try this and let me know how it goes!

That sir, is an awesome idea! She's not pulling left, as though the rudder were engaged, though. She's rolling over to the left. Still, I've got nothing to lose by implementing your suggestion. I'll let you know how it goes! :D

IT SURVIVED! You are getting the hang of the warbirds bud. Was it having trim issues, hit the limits?

What do you mean "it survived??!!" Of course it did! Ok. That's a big 'ol "whew!" across my brow! All kidding aside, a survival on maiden is far from assured! :) Still, survive she did. I wasn't really happy with how she flew, though. What followed is my failing. I can't yet trim a plane in the air, if that trimming has to happen on the right side of the controller.

If it needs trimming, my fingers are busy counteracting that need for trimming, just to fly. How the heck can I take my fingers off the stick and adjust the trim, if I've got to ride the stick to override the fact it needs trimming? Yeah. I can't do that, yet. ;)

I tried to trim it out on the left side, thinking it might be related to the vertical stabilizer. No dice. That's OK.

I've put a couple washers under a screw as was suggested, and I'm going to take her out again tomorrow. Hopefully this time I can open her up!

My trimming today was the same. A couple factors, haven't flown in a couple weeks and being on a maiden I was shaking like a leaf, like visibly shaking. By the time I landed the first time the elevator trim was way up, a few clicks from the limit. But to get there was a battle. Shaky hands could not locate the trim switch. didn't want to take my eyes off the plane cause it wanted to nose dive hard. I had to take it up high and just have blind faith as i looked down at the TX to find the trim. Feels like the first time, like a virgin... hey there are a couple songs in there lol.

I think your change in the thrust angle will help you out, what prop are you using on it?

My most nerve racking maiden was maiden in the big bravo. I was pretty scared lol, but it went great! The other day I flew my simple stick to see if I could get one last flight out of it, but due to difficulties, I could only get three channels to work, meaning aileron was on the throttle stick. It MESSES with your mind SO much!! I’m comfortable trimming while flying (if I can find the button😂) but this is a whole different story - you have the option of being able to have elevator or aileron, but not both. You try to correct your aileron with your left hand but nothing happens, and it was just a mess. The flight only lasted half a minute. 🤣

Yea once you get used to one way of muscle memory it's tough to compensate. A lot of old schoolers don't run on mode 2 because they come from the two channel transistor days were rudder was one stick and elevator was the other. Some had a switch for throttle, some had a slide, which was high tech back in the day. It's crazy

Wow, yeah. This hobby has progressed so much lately, it’s really coming to the next level...

I think you nailed my first experience too. I thought I was just so unused to a fast plane that I could barely control it. I find it interesting that you had to concentrate so hard on keeping the nose up because that was me too! I took her out the other day and went real light on a 3s 1800. She had the same tendency to run straight out but I would turn back into the wind to bring her back and that seemed to slow her down enough to feel comfortable. I also broke the LG and propeller so that session ended early. How did your double braced landing gear go? Incidentally, I use the 9x6 APC too,so there’s another correlation for the planes.

She wants to fly. She's very twitchy, but that's to be expected. @BATTLEAXE, there is no down or side thrust built in. It's straight up. @K3V0 I didn't really have to concentrate on keeping the nose up. My problem was that the plane just wanted to roll over to the left, like I had a weight on the wing.

I'm going to change the thrust angle of the motor, to try counteract it. I haven't seen anywhere else that it's been necessary, though. From all I've read and seen, the FT Mig 3 just works. It's got to be a failure in my build. I just haven't figured it out yet.

Built the wing last night! Not too difficult and I was able to complete this with no problems. The one thing I noticed is that the the center of the rear edge is not swallow tailed like it seems to need to be. It’s an easy fix, I’m just not sure where I missed that step. View attachment 147524
