Come celebrate the people’s warbird with me! I’m building a Mig 3 for the first time and I wanted to document my work but also encourage others to post about their Migs here.
Successes, failures, things learned, even personal feelings about this plane. Quit Stalin! Let’s hear it!

I just cut out my foam a week after getting my plans tiled into poster board.

I know nothing!
I've read a lot of posts about the great flight characteristics of the FT Mig 3. I've got one cut out and waiting in the wings. I've got to finish my Storch, then a 150% MSBP. Then I might just join you here with my Mig build, if that's OK?

Looks like you are off to a good start my friend. You poster board your plans, I've never tried that
It is a longer process for sure. Getting the paper mounted used to be more of a drag but now I break up the work into one sheet per session. I also end up with pretty sturdy templates and when I get sloppy in cutting out the foam I can replace them pretty quickly 😉 That’s what happened to the rudder and other parts here.

Da! I mean yes! Definitely post your work on this one. How far along are you on the storch. I’m still learning mine. I took it out today and it felt like a really different plane than the week before.

Cool, thanks! No way I could come up with a title as clever as the one you've got. ;) All I've completed on the Storch is the wing. I should be able to resume work on it tonight. :)

Last night I was able to do some building while my son and I watched Mr Rodgers. Got the score cuts in and mostly removed the foam bits.

I flew my TT this morning and I learned some new things. Check out the What Did you crash today? thread for more details. But I flew inverted for the first time and was able to repeat and sustain for a few laps! Then, epic crashes and now this.

Luckily I still have two planes to fly but I’m feeling motivated to finish the Mig!

Good progress on the Mig! Don't stress the TT. That's what they're for. Way better to crash that simple bird while learning, than to crash something you've got a lot of hours into building. :)

Looking great. I am going to have a handful of planes to maiden very soon and fully expect them all to come back looking like your TT. I can't help it, ill probably even paint them first. lol. I thought about starting a mig as well but found plans for a Stuka i just couldn't resist. Looking forward to seeing your mig fly.

Built the wing last night! Not too difficult and I was able to complete this with no problems. The one thing I noticed is that the the center of the rear edge is not swallow tailed like it seems to need to be. It’s an easy fix, I’m just not sure where I missed that step.

I do not think you missed a step. I think the plans are wrong. Both wing and bottom has a point

Happy Veterans Day all! Hope some of you got some good flying in this weekend and today 😃. I was able to do a lot of building in the past few days and I’ve got the MiG mostly built! Yeah! 🤘It was a long process between watching and rewatching parts of the build video and really trying to be accurate with cuts and gluing. But when the top hatch slides on and you’ve got your first glimpse of the final product it’s such a satisfying feeling and you can take lots of pride in the hours put into the build. 😎

I stuck with the plans for the most part. I did add a two reinforcement bulkheads in the rear fuselage and because of the wing not quite matching in the rear I did cut a little of the bottom plate to accept the shape.

I also tried some foam/project primer for the first time. You can see that light grey finish at the end. I’m excited to see what it does for the paint job at the end. So far it seems like a good base, especially for where there is tape showing under the wing. It does really highlight where all the glue bits and imperfections are😕 so a bit more prep work before I start the final paint work.
