For a true test, order a case of each from us and then you'll know. And most of what has already been stated is true. Depron has rigidity but lacks in flexibility and EPP has flexibility but lack in rigidity. Both are great building materials in their own respect. EPP repairs easier, as it tends to tear vs break. Depron takes paint easier but EPP looks better when airbrushed.

And for your useless knowledge databank: Deprons original use was for insulation/underlayment during floor covering installs and its origin is Germany.

Heck, that's a great idea... You could sponsor a foam episode, send a case of each type to the guys in Ohio. I bet they'd love to get a batch like that for some scratch building episodes.

Now now guys. You can't expect them to give everyone free foam, they'd be out of business in no time.

I think with what appears to be the next episode to be released, now would be a good time to have the Flite Test guys recommend a place to buy foam from.

But of course, they'd have to get a sample, experience the service, etc, before they could recommend something, right?

MY problem is the foam is quite inexpensive, it's the shipping costs. I am going to the mainland tomorrow and will
buy some there. As soon as a ferry is involved it doubles the cost on some items here. Price of living in paradise!!

We ship daily to your lovely slice of the earth and yes........it is expensive. We offer cut sheets to help but to some places, more than a stamped envelope and you need to second mortgage the house.

I'll have to get in contact with the guys and see what we can work out.

That would be cool! I would love to hear Josh Scott say, "And thanks to Grayson Hobby for sponsoring this episode."

As a long time (if not very frequent) customer of yours, and a fan of this show, that would be a great combination.

MY error. 50 feet? I don't think so. I linked you incorrectly.

I don't see it otherwise either. But when I'm physically in the store, it's there. It looks like the pink stuff, but blue. I think you get a couple more sheets than the pink panther sheets.

if you can measure the weight for a specific volume we could compare it with other materials like depron!

3mm Depron has 40g/litre
6mm Depron has 33g/litre
EPP has 20g/litre.

So what would be yours? If it is light weight it should be comparable to some of those.

Sorry, Anas, I had not seen your post. According to my inexact scales and rough calculations, it appears to be 48g/liter.

Oh did I mention it's covered in a NEON yellow? (Neon is not glow-in-the-dark, it glows under black light (UV) which my blue lamp emits a lot. In the picture it glows green because of yellow+blue)

Ok, I've been all over the local stores, and no one has anything remotely like the foam I need. Does anyone know what or even if its available in Australia?

Thanks,

NAM

That shouldn´t be too bad then.

Your foam plane itself would way just 10-20g more then normal ones.
I could live with that especially because of that awesome colour!

The best places for depron style foam in Aus is usually art/framing shops. They sell various thickness paper/adhesive covered sheets (A0 and A1) for mounting prints and stuff like that. I recently got A1 6mm sheets for $5.99 each from a small art shop in Canberra. I've been told I can get A0 sheets and bigger for even less.
