Folding wings

#2
I broke my wings on my Axon as well. Did not fold them in flight, but rather, cartwheeled it on the ground. I was using a 1/4 " square dowel. I am able to just replace the spar and re-tape the wings - the rest of the plane survived...

Axon II will be better, be sure to keep us posted on any enhancements you make on the second iteration.

Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, but it is pretty spectacular when you fold them in flight. Look at it this way - your flying abilities have exceeded your aircraft's abilities. Time for an upgrade!

Yeah, I have no excuse for using a 5/16 dowel rod other than I must have be trying to hurry the build and that was all I had on hand. The next version will have a carbon fiber arrow shaft in it. We'll see how that holds up :)

The ability to pull full up after a fast dive is something very common until you have learned to control your flying. Very few planes are designed to do high g maneuvers.
