Help! found a transmitter. next question.

so i may have tracked down a first transmitter a spektrum unit. nothing fancy but should teach me to fly. here's my question though i plan in the future to up grade to a 6 or 8 something a bit more programmable and telemetry capable. so can i buy a higher channel reciver and fly it with a 5 channel radio and just leave some channels unused ?? are there any issues with that??

Think about
- who you will get help from, do you fly with other and what do they use
- do you enjoy tinkering (sensors, telemetry)
- what do you dream of flying
For example
Dual engine plane with flaps? Channels 1-2 THR, 1-2 FLPS, AIL, Rudder, ELE = 5-7 channels to this add possibly a channel for GYRO/Flight Controller mode selection
Lots of people fly 6 CH hand get by just fine.

Also which specific radio is it? Do you know if it supports DSMX?

Yes you can use a higher channel receiver then your transmitter puts out, just check the outputs.
