I was just watching some videos of the redbull air race and thought to myself how cool it would be to do something similar with rc pylon racers as FPV. It'd be a real challenge to find a plane that is both stable, manoeuvrable and fast whilst being able to provide accurate FPV footage. If anyone has any insight as to how or if this is possible I'd love to hear it as i may attempt it myself in the future.

It should be possible. The only problem I could think of is that there might be some delay in the transmission of the video signal so that you´ll get a slight delay causing too late reactions from the pilot. In stuff like gliding that is not an issue but with FPV where your reaction is what mainly is asked for, I could imagine some crashs happen.
Also the fact, that you´re close to the ground, won´t give you much time to react before you´ll crash.
It would be worth a try though. I bet a good challenge for FT
