Special Functions menu has stayed the same. The Logical Switches is new. I think it was custom switches.

Yes, Kurt, I realize that, I never said that it was missing, sorry for the confusion. They did rename it, however. What is missing is the Templates menu. It is no longer there.

Sure. I haven't updated my firmware to 2.0, so this is for the earlier versions. I'm not sure I will update since there is no more Templates menu in the TX simulator. I went there first to setup my Custom Functions to take a screenshot for you, instead I had to take an actual picture of my TX. I created my own audio files for the throttle enabled/disabled and my rates using this method.

This is the original video I learned this method from if my instructions don't convey what they should.

1. Menu Page 13/13 Templates select 02 Sticky-T-Cut
2. Menu Page 2/13 Model Setup for Timer 1 select THt then select Minute call, which is right below
3. Menu Page 6/13 Mixer select := MAX -100 to edit and specify the switch, I use SF↓
4. Menu Page 11/13 Custom Functions:

Of course, this could all be done without using a "Throttle Cut" switch, you could just have the switch arm your timer, but this may help avoid some bloody fingers someday. When I select SF↓ my TX says "Throttle disabled" and resets my timer. When I leave SF↓ and move the switch to SF↑ my TX says "Throttle enabled" and as soon as I move the throttle the timer starts.

Alex thanks for taking the time to write this up. I have been looking for something just like this so you've saved me a bunch of time and I am very thankful.

You bet!

So I was trying to setup the "custom switches" for the Lipo Warning.
With 2.0 the Menu changed to Logical Switches and it's a little different. Would anyone be able to show an updated setup?

Are you using the Lipo Voltage sensor with smart port? I've been meaning to pick one of those up for my blunt nose. Also, I have ordered several FrSky components from Skyward Hobbies and had wonderful success. They are right in your neck of the woods in Napavine.

I haven't ordered one yet, just trying to get setup. I figured it out now and will post the difference soon.

I will look at Skywardhobbies, thanks! I have limited funds to play with. I just got my X8R in the mail, and won't get funds till next month. :( I love my kids but they take all my money.

Sorry, I missed that. I also didn't realize the templates are gone. I need to stop reading these half asleep...

I have the Voltage Sensor and GPS, so if you have any questions regarding these, let me know.

For me the FLVSS was a must besides having telemetry, because I didn't want to guess my battery power by counting minutes. Now I can make the Taranis tell me when the voltage gets too low. I have fairly conservative settings though making it warn me at <3.8 and give critical warnings at <3.7.

Usually I start to fly less agressive when it starts warning and make it come home when it gets critical.

Hey guys I'm having trouble flashing the new firmware to my Taranis. I have it connected with power off, then if I try it write to "Write firmware to radio" I get this message.

Sorry if I'm doing something obvious wrong, I've watching a lot of videos and reading a lot, but a bunch of stuff is different now with 2.0

If you are using 2.0 you need to hold trim tabs for rudder and ailerons to the center and turn radio on to get to firmware settings. Let us know if it works out.

I'm trying to update the radio from 1.2 to 2.0, and I thought that method was only the case if you were updating the radio from 2.0 and up, but not for updating from 1.2 to 2.0.

Correct. You use the old version to update the radio to 2.0.2, which also loads the new boot loader. From that point use the new companion. A lot of folks have trouble with the DFU loader, and it's been discussed in detail on other boards. With the new boot loader, you'll never have that problem again.

So I need to install an older version of CompanionTX and use it to update the radio to 2.0.2 Then update companionTX to 2.0.2 and update the Taranis again using the trim button method?

Sorry I missed that info, the RCGroups Taranis threads are really long and there are multiple conversations overlapping in them.

Does anyone have a link to the instructions and info I'll need?

Thanks again for the help everyone!

I updated to 2.0 by installing open-TX2.0 first then went to file, download to down load the TX 2.0

I talked about it a little more in-depth in my haptic feedback thread. Link on page 1.

Make sure you've got the right driver installed.

Install Companion9x

Install Companion2.0.2

Sounds like a lot, but you won't ever have to mess with the boot loader again. Here's the thread on the new software.

What's the problem with boot loader? I think it's a good idea. Say if you mess up your firm ware or files in the field you can use it to load your backup with out a PC.

If you have a smart port receiver (X8R), you should be fine with them. I have both myself.

Also make sure to use the smart port (or s.port), not the s-bus like I did...
