starting out.. had a spectrum dx5e lying around... is a FS-i6X 10CH a good next choice.. or wait and get a frsky or better spectrum?

Big thumbs up for the Flysky. And you can get voltage sensors for like $10 for their receiver and have voltage telemetry easily and cheaply.

What they said. I've got two, and a buddy box cable to fly with my son.

I need to look into getting the voltage sensors.

Here's a couple of options:

You plug one into into the sensor port on the FS-i6b or FS-i10b receiver, and the two leads plug into the negative and positive ends on the balance lead of the battery, and then you have the FlySky radio search for sensors and it should find it just like that.
