It happens to us all at some point! Builders block!!! Stuck 3 projects on the go and not motivation to work on any of them. So started watching some old flitetest videos to get some inspiration. End up downloadin the mini FT-22 plans (again, cause I was really going to build it this time) and ended up thinking bugger that, why not evolve the design, logical move is the nemesis (theretical) to the Raptor, The Russian T-50 or SU-57 as it is now known (I use T -50 bacause it works with FT)
Quick draw up and outline onto the foam.

Cut out the wing plate and elevators, which will be the only control surfaces. The whole plane is 22 inch wing span.

Taped on the control surfaces, fiber tape on top and clear packing on the bottom (using Hobbyking 5mm foam as I don't have access to DTFB)

Next up was to get the servos set. As Josh mentioned in his build video, it is much easier to center controls while you have a bare wing plate.

As mentioned this is not DTFB so will need some reinforcement. 3mm carbon rods will do. I ran out so the rear one is 4mm.

On go the sides of the ducts/fuslage.

Next cut out the fuslage sides and glue into place. I also reinforce the insides with 2 x craft sticks. A lot like icecream/popsicle sticks but larger and not as thick. I also add velcro at this point. I place it on the right wing side to assist with countering the torque roll. Also I have had issue in hard dives or aggressive turns where the battery ejects through the foam leaving a nice big hole in the plane when I put velcro on any upper or lower surface.

On go the base plates, in 2 parts cause I didn't want to waste foam.

Next, I attach the tail section. The PAK-FA has a distinct tail boom which helps differ this model from the FT-22. I also incorporated an additional larger surface under the boom. This is my thinking. The FT-50 is a large wing area which will block the vertical stabilizers when flying with any real incidence (low speed/high alpha). The addition of this section under the plane is to help keep stability, can only try hey!

Sticks out more underneath.

Still waiting on a new motor to arrive for this thing. Plan is to use a 2000kv turnigy, plush 30 amp with a TGS 6x4.
I'm happy so far, as always any input is welcome, I'll post when I get more done!!

Very nice stuff, russian planes are always cool and I haven't seen any pak-fa made like that yet (only big turbine ones)

Got around to putting the top on my FT-50. Magnets and tape in place to keep it all closed up tight. Fire wall mounted to the back of the fuselage section. I use epoxy here as it is super strong.

Put on a can opt and fitted the motor. Using a racerstar BR2212 2200kv with tgs 6x3. Hoping the weather calms down tomorrow so I can maiden this thing!
