FT Bloody Wonder - Scratch Build

Thanks everyone, CraftyDan - yeah it is the 28-36 I forgot. So if I need the nose 3 3/8-3 1/2 does that mean I need to move it forward or backwards of the original mount?
It seems like I'll just have to measure the tail part out and make my own piece. So it overlaps into the front fuselage by 1.5inches, right? I'll make my piece all the way back to the elevator hinge and angled like the power pod I think. Thanks for the help, glad I have a section of minwaxed board leftover instead of waiting for more to dry out.

My Bloody Wonder

Well I finished the build finally, I have to see if these home made control horns will hold up. Also, this friggin motor is HEAVY!!! With a 2200mAh battery and this motor I am surprised how heavy this plane became. Will see how it maiden's. Hopefully tomorrow if it doesn't rain on us.

My standard flight prep weighs 425g. With a dynam A21 (23*6 stator)motor and 1800ma battery pack.

The pack weighs 170g itself.

DDS,

Yup! With that 3s2200, and a 90g motor, she becomes a *heavy* plane!

A lighter pack will help, but I think you'll like her this way - she may not fly as slow and sinks faster in a glide, but she'll scoff at the wind and the larger pack will not only give you more time, but longer bursts of WOT. If you've got a smaller pack or two, try it both ways, but I think you'll end up saving the bigger packs for your new best flying buddy!

DDSFlyer,
That is one of the coolest designs I've seen on a scratch-build. Nice Job!

Nice build DDSFlyer that is a mean looking bird.

Thanks guys for e compliments, guess I had a little too mich time at work to brainstorm my paint scheme.
I Maidened the bird today and she flew great! Had another pilot with and original fun bat build out there that gave me tips and helped me launch it. With this motor it just lifts out of my hand at launch no problem. Didn't vertical launch it yet, not on the first day! I had my throws on my control dialed down to 40-50%! I ended up having my control horns too small (had to go to the 2nd hole as the 3rd broke installing the speed clevices. Need to fine tune the elevator which is super responsive but I need to add the zip tie to the control arm down and probably trim the elevator to clear the vertical stabilizers a bit, she seems to stick a little when I put a little down elevator.
Got three 2200 batteries through her, and started getting the flight times down to 6 minutes I was having too much fun pushing it at 75-85% throttle! Could easily get a lot more time out of the battery, but is thing will zoom! It whistles on a dive with almost full throttle! Loving it so far! Thanks flight test for making this one available to us!
On another note, I fly on a dirt runway and had nice soft dragged out landings but dirt and rocks kept getting in my motor and had to be manually turned out...I am gonna have to make landing gear for this thing and may come up with some tricycle type gear...any suggestions?

Benn debating about adding a v-shaped skid to the nose, right along the LE, to hold up the nose on landing. Wouldn't add much weight or drag, and useless for takeoff, but it could keep the prop off the ground in a smooth landing.

Yeah the guy with his fun bat showed me his credit card landing gear, it looked like a somewhat v shaped hull design up front behind the motor. I was able to tail drag the landings but of course the motor/prop has to dig in at some point.
As for catching it...not there yet!

I just chop throttle and the prop stops spinning. And belly land it.

I cut the lower part of the tail fins off and can put everything in the power pod so its clean landing wise.

It's not landing on a battery pack and tail fins the stick below the 'fuse.

I'm on my iPhone or I'd attach the picture of it with the lower fins removed and my miniature receiver

I do the same thing. Actually, I think it it looks way cooler with the vertical stabilizers cut.

I have pictures of the plane with trimmed tail fins and the micro receiver for my FlySky around page 15 or so.

When I wrecked it into a telephone wire I found out it FlySky just a nice with one tail fin as it did with two

I should take a picture of my power pod...with a 2200mAh battery and my extended wired ESC and orange Rx, there's NO room!

My 1800 fits with the small receiver.

Battery sits over the CG the way its layed out. So a battery change doesn't mean much just center the battery.

Unplanned modding of Pikachu this is why I hate team sports damn goal posts 1472978_10202763094385574_981547848_n.jpg
Thank God for poly urethane glue now to rebuild the power pod 1472837_10201983283256596_2056782304_n.jpg Seriously 2000sq/m of open air and I find one of 4 obstacles and they are only 3inches in diameter.
