When I do my wood/foam spars all I use is spray adhesive, never had any come apart.

Is the proper polystyrene glue in a tube just as good for these builds ?

I'm building one of these and watching the video as a guide. In the video we do not see the inner upper wing panels being glued to the spars. I assume that they are meant to be, and probably are but that step is missing from the video edit.

But I want to make sure that they should be glued rather than there being a sensible reason for them not to be glued.
