If the motors are counter rotating, does one prop need to be installed with the numbers facing the tail?

No, it is not necessary. Counter-rotating props are nice in that they offset each other's prop torque. What size props are you looking for?

OH - Counter-rotating props are also called "pusher" props. You'll probably find them labelled as that. Headsuphobby.com carries them.
